It appears I have the opposite mind frame from what most of you have.

Leathers bores me - specifically vocally, whereas I find Tempest fucking amazing. The vocals feel right and the music itself has an expansive, textured sound.

After listening to it a few times. Tempest is one of the most powerful if not, the most powerful song they've ever created. The dynamics are fucking ridiculous.

Tempest bores me. Sounds like some more shit off of DE. Leathers takes me back to a SNW/WP vibe. It'll probably grow on me though. I usually don't like their best songs at first.

I'm well aware of that. I just think he's changing his singing style because maybe he's bored with the old one. I haven't heard him live recently with the older material, does he sing it differently too? Or does he use his old style?

No he doesn't. Go listen to them playing Minerva live in 2003 and then how they play it now. Back then they played it just like the studio release, they fucking watered their live Minerva down so much now, it pisses me off.

I don't understand why ppl are saying this is going to be DE 2.  Leathers doesn't sound like anything off that album and either does Tempest, really Tempest doesn't sound like any of their other music. I think some ppl go out of their way to sound like hipsters or are trying way to hard to not sound like fanboys. DE is my least favorite of their albums, but I still like it, especially at concert Diamond Eyes, Rocket Skates, Prince, and Royal all created a lot of energy and sounded great. Beauty School and Sex Tape were kind of boring live.

I had in my head that DE was their worst as well but then i went back and listened again and had no idea how i got that i like it very much after listening to it again there's no skip tracks it's very solid but the reason it's not my favourite is it doesn't have those perfect songs you fall in love with like White Pony with Digital Bath,Change,Knife Party and Pink maggit the other songs are good but even if they weren't WP would still be my favourite because of those tracks. Also where did someone say it would be DE 2? I'm sure it won't be it'll build on DE the Deftones haven't done two albums the same yet i don't see them doing it now

I've read the DE2 comment several times on here, I can't remember specificially who. I agree it doesn't have a lot of songs that I consider favorite deftones songs except Prince, i really like that song. However I think it's important for fans to remember how high of a benchmark the deftones have set with past records.

It all sounds new to me. None of the 4 Koi No Yokan songs i've heard so far sound like past material.

I like the cover. It will (hopefully) make more sense when we hear the whole record.

I agree about the cover art, glad they went through with that choice and not the emoticons. Maybe with KNY we will also get a cd booklet with pictures and art in it as well instead of the DE booklet.

Side note: I will admit the band photo on the cd tray of DE kind of intrigued me with the two deer statues charging each other on the wall above everyone.
