Soo on another note..It's supposedly exactly a week before Deftones drop their lead single "Tempest", what do you guys expect from the new track?

A week huh?

Well minus BBC's Daniel P Carter:P True though, I mean the actual release date is still set to be the 9th, though it would be great to get it a few days early...Hopefully a few people with get out a few high def recordings of it.

Hey I wrote that post knowing exactly what I was saying, I saw the thread about the whole BBC thing before writing my reply on this thread. I have no idea how accurate this guy on the radio is, obviously 9/10 sources I seem to be hearing from are complete and utter bullshit, so until I hear Tempest playing on the radio show Wednesday night I'll show no remorse for saying before thinking.

I wasn't talking about you, good sir.

I'm only on my phone for the next week or so. So if someone can record it and upload it somewhere iPhone friendly that'd be greattttt

Playhouse

From interviews the descriptions of Tempest were:

'Very Dark and stark feel'
'Feels like an ocean current pulling you and pushing you down'

cant wait to listen to this :)

shine down unshy

That's so vague though.  Nonetheless..! I am excited to hear the new album.  Deftones never disappoint.

Ultimate Guitar said it was a "dirge", which means it will probably have a sad, haunting sound.

i like the sound of that.
In that interview as well, sergio talks about the intro of poltergeist having a high pass filter. Im guessing that the opening bass line will have a thin radio like sound, and then cut our heads off when the band comes in. Just fun to speculate

bewareofrats

What does halftime dirge mean?

I'm thinking of not listening to this because I've heard enough spoilers already.

Inkblades

A dirge is a mournful song played at funeral. Halftime is probably a reference to songs played at sports events (Think We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions). It's a little bit of a contradiction, but that's probably what will make the song interesting. What I take away from that description is that it will be dark and sad, but also an anthem. I'm guessing something akin to Change or Minerva.

Teknoman

Accordingly to their programming schedule they will broadcast a live performance by Jake Bugg tomorrow/today (Oct 3)... It doesn't seem to be the best scenario for a Deftones world premiere.

just sayin'...
