As much as I like DE and as much as I will love KNY (no doubt), it's always going to be missing Terry Date's amazing ability to produce records. He just captures everything so well, however, this has been discussed a billion times before so I will shut up!

I have a feeling KNY will be much improved as DE was the starting over. Hopefully they are in the zone on this record with more experimentation and more complex structures to each song, rather than an album of choruses like DE.

look xtoxin its really quite simple. terry date being gone? how is he gone? they chose to better themselves and work with other people that will have different views and opinions on certain things! you guys want them to work with freaking terry date on every record just because the first 3 records were "classic" and had "his touch" and the only reason you guys want eros so damn badly is cause he worked the controls after a disastrous attempt with bob ezrin/SLopez on SNW geez! get it thru your terry date lovin skulls that not choosing him as producer is holding them back in someway from being everything you want them to be

ghettovaquero

This is the last thing i will say about terry date. If anything the guy is responsible for them not being much more than they could have been. we have all seen the sessions, no discipline, S/T was never finished they missed record label deadlines and it seems like he just let them do whatever not that his job is to baby sit them or be a fucking general and have them in line. but it seems that with nick r. he is helping them focus more and stay on task and help them grow as a band whereas terry date let them do their job and he did his. Terry date was the perfect producer for them when they were young. now older wiser they need something more

Not only Terry Date, it could be that they're just older now like I said. They want to do different things. Doesn't mean we all have to like it. If this new album is more spaced out and dynamic I'll be happy. I like my deftones to be up & down and experimental, not compacted as I felt Diamond Eyes was.

Inkblades

I like DE more than a lot of the people around here, but it's nothing like ATF.

DE is an incredible album. Listening to the instrumentals just recently released really reiterates said fact. The musicianship on that album is top notch, anyone who thinks otherwise needs to have their brain checked.

in my humble opinion, some of the tracks on diamond eyes could have been b-sides to white pony or around the fur. that's how good it was to me.

Slacker

the only stuff reminiscent of ATF on DE, in my perspective at list, are Royal and Prince.

blondie

diamond eyes reminds me of every single deftones album.

Penicks

if every single deftones album was a piece of crap i'd agree

I'm still a bit appalled by some of the hate Diamond Eyes gets around here, but whatever... All I'm hoping for KNY is that they make a solid, entertaining album. I don't like to put false comparisons on any of their work (it's gonna sound like <insert album here>). Each album is unique and creative. Couldn't ask for more.

I agree. my first thought when I listened to DE for the first time was that this is classic Deftones. they showed song writing more reminiscent of ATF than anything they've done since. I really don't understand all the hate.

Yup yup yup.

I love DE, but it is missing the darkness and haunting feeling that they do so well. This Place Is Death is the only song on DE, in my opinion, that comes close to it. It's not so much dark or haunting, just has a bit of an eerie vibe to me. Anyways, Rosemary reminds me so very much of those dark/haunting/intensely emotional songs they do, so I think maybe the sound might remind many ppl of DE, but it'll be much different. I mean, to put it in simple terms: DE was a pretty straightforward, simple-sounding album. Koi No Yokan has a lotta experimentation about it (for Deftones at least). That right there is the opposite, so I'm sure they've drawn influence frm DE as well as their other albums, but I really dont think it'll be a DE part two or anything like that.

Chino was fucked up on drugs in 03=GREAT ALBUM...They all hated eachother on SNW=GREAT ALBUM...Now with DE and KNY they all love eachother and are all about unity as a band=not nearly as dark or fucked up an album....pain/torment/hate/drugs will equal a great album....Loving eachother will equal a simple rock record like DE.......The fact Chino is fat again and drinking a lot again might give me some hope the new album will be somewhat fucked up...But I still expect DE part 2

xToxin

I'm definitely gonna be disappointed if it's Diamond Eyes part 2.
