I think I gt ahead of myself with the experimental nature of it. After a few more listens, it's not completely out there, it's similar to SNW in a way, even with the intro (like Combat). But...I still think this album will definitely be different in terms of it still being Deftones, but with some new elements or whatever. My excitement is through the roof, so I'm sorry for my multiple posting, but noone else is gonna listen to my Deftones-related rambling. Ah, I do enjoy this song :) which says a lot because I tend to prefer the softer songs. But...sometimes it's nice to have a change.

The Combat comparison is right. The whole song is very SNW too, like it could have been a B Side of it.

b-side? are you fucking kidding me? have you heard SNW lately? shit take out mein and insert this and i would have praised you but a b-side to SNW sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeet the fack up lol

Well, you know what I mean! Was just trying to reflect Theshade1989's thoughts on it. You're right, maybe not a B Side but a song from that era of writing.

yea i get what your saying man, but honestly SNW era sounds so toothless compared to DE and this song. IMO

blondie

this song sounds like nothing on snw. that record sounds like it's being dragged through the mud forcefully.

this sounds crispy like diamond eyes.

punkflop01

god damn...goosebumps all the way through on the second listen. it's going to be a good next few months.

Far away

Thanks for the hi-def picture iceache.

This single artwork is really working for me - especially with the imagery I had going for me after finding out the title of the album.

ZackND

honestly this doesn't remind me of any of their other music, which is impressive considering how dynamic they are. the 30 second to mars comparison is just stupid, don't be a queer

my thoughts exactly. but even crisper than DE. DE songs dont have that pop and spring that this song has. Not one of them if anything Beauty School

While this could be entirely wrong, you've got to hypothesize that "Tempest" is going to be much softer/more accessible after the band has released such an aggressive song in "Leathers", right?

Of course, this is useless speculation, but humor me.

Maybe not, remember Rocket skates / Diamond eyes?

Right. Can't argue with that. Either way, if it's along the lines of quality that "Leathers" is, then I can imagine all of us will be happy, happy campers.

amem!

No doubt about it though, it's a great song. Grows on me the more I listen to it.

pony_01

missing Chi's touch anyway :(

I like Leathers a lot. Love the single artwork too. Listened probably over 30 times now with good JVC HA-FX101 in-ear headphones (sick, clear bass!!). Omg it is so heavy and the vocals are good. Not corny at all and good chorus IMO.

I love that second of guitar feedback right between the intro and the first vocals/music. It's like "get prepared" an instant before it blows up hahaha.

Can't wait for this album...

Wonder how he'll do with songs like this live- with the pitches the vocals reach. He better start losing weight again! lmao

deftjess

really good song

im going to make a guarantee right here right now. KNY will teabag 2010's Diamond Eyes. I will not be wrong. if i am then ill eat crow 11/13 but you can take that to the bank
DE is a classic for me. One of my fav' tones albums. We'll see...

Martin

Wow.
In whole, to me, it sounds like something new for them again while sounding completely like Deftones. Just as Stef said. Which is what I've come to know over time I guess, and still I'm completely blown away every single time. Love this band.

nineteen

Franks effects in the verses remind me of old computer game sounds.

cesar421

This song is perfect to be the opening song in a concert.

Love it. I didn't expect to be this heavy when i first heard the intro.

it's sad how you, among others, are a slave to your fanboidom to make an honest assessment.

i suppose we should all be drones and believe this song is the most original and unique musical composition in human history.

theis

Feathers. Pretty damn good.
