Because wen a song is said to be released on a certain date, it's pretty much guaranteed that it wont be any time early.

I didn't think it was about the girlfriend, I'm pretty sure they are going with a chicken theme for the new album instead of an owl theme.

Same here -well I love deftones the most when it's a nice blend of softer and harder, like most songs (ATF, Rickets, MOS, most of WP, etc etc etc)....
