i've got no problem with the 8 strings. it certainly brings something new to the sound. he just needs to be a bit more adventurous with his riffs, and more tempo changes.

I agree with some of the comments about things being a bit monotone. diamond eyes (track) is the epitome of this imo.

"No need to come up with a lot of variety and creativity in the riffs anymore, the massive sound of the 8 string alone will blow people's minds" - steph

It says a lot that his best riffs are on Adrenaline.

100% agree. But when im a fan of a band, i give songs that doesn't click with me more chances and I let them grow on me. But If i plain don't like it at all, well too bad i'll skip the song.

i think elite korea were some of his best riffs. but yeah adrenaline had a lot. not to mention my own summer. that's got to be his standout riff.

Which version   is the best ?

I'll jump in and agree on the Stef thing - he used to be a grand riff meister, but he's become a bit stale. I blame it on his obsession with Meshuggah. I was never a fan of the extremely down-tuned riffs in odd time signatures. lately I've enjoyed Chino's guitar playing a lot more.

He should just drop the 8 string stupidity.

I kind of agree.  I think the 7 string is low enough however the 8 makes RATS! RATS! RATS! sound freakin awesome.  Just thinking about that low end part is making my weiner move.  Well, I guess he might be playing a 7 that's just tuned really low.

he played Rats! and the others SNW's songs with the 7 string, he only started to play with the 8 string guitar on Eros
Gentleman, you can't fight in here! This the War Room!!

What everyone here is really saying is that they need to go back to Terry Date. Those snippets of Eros have some pretty interesting riffs and they're all on an 8-string.

Actually I'm not. I prefer the 6 string sound over the 8 string low end bounce.

Can someone send me the newest Rosemary from today? Thanks.

That's fair. I still think Stephen is capable of making some great music on 6+ strings. See: S/T

The album would still be being recorded, or i should say they would still be smoking weed and play dominoes all day, if Terry was the producer :P

That's fine. They can take all the time in the world so long as they give us another S/T or ATF.

The riff on My Own Summer was the sickest shit I had ever heard when I was in high school.....my buddy ran up to me in the hall and put his headphones on me and said, "Dude. You gotta hear this!"  As soon as the opening riff started, my mind was blown. I had never heard anything like it.   Right after school I went to the record store and bought both Around the Fur and the Adrenaline cassette tapes.

Oh and to keep my post relevant to Koi No Yokan: Rosemary is awesome!

Drinks won't stain this birth!

Can I get newest Rosemary from today also???

I'll take Koi No Yokan for what it is and ill probably like it better than S-T since i'm not a big fan of that album. yeah
