You're free to sound like an idiot if you want.  Whether or not the true name of the band is "Deftones" or "The Deftones" is moot.  I will admit that technically it is "Deftones" but there are certain speech and writing patterns that are followed in individual languages.  In English, omitting the "The" will make you sound awkward in some situations.

LOL.  Like i said, it is technically "Deftones".  I'm not arguing about that.  I'm saying that there are certain established spoken and written patterns that people follow.  If you don't say "The Deftones" in some circumstances, you will sound stilted and awkward.

By the way, I'm a born-and-raised American.  I also teach English as a Second Language in Japan if you need some more qualifications.

Jesus, sometimes depending on how its used in a sentence, you gotta throw in the "the" for the sake of not looking like you dropped out of high school freshman year when you speak.. their name is simply DEFTONES.

Moving forward, anyone curious as to what the actual CD is gonna look like? I wonder if they're gonna use the same design they've used on Adrenaline, Around the Fur, & Saturday Night Wrist.. Personally I hope not, I hope it's something unique like spacey or use the pink/blue fade design they got goin on with the Leathers single.

Also, these torrent sites are pissin me off, all these fake ass KNY torrents all have like 18-25 seeders. like, WTF?

Not that it really matters but I've heard Chino refer to them as "The Deftones" in interviews before.  If it's not a big deal to him, it shouldn't be to anyone else.
