It's funny, it seems that most ppl who love DE consider ST to be not that great an album. And those that love ST consider DE to be not that great an album. Maybe that's saying something about their optimism or pessimism and etc.

Anywhoo...I'm not feeling as impatient as I thought I would. I'm not even bothering to overplay the songs. Yet my anticipation for the album is through the roof. Weird. Ah well, makes life easier. Also:

Tempest
Rosemary
Leathers
Poltergeist.

But that's only because I havent played them like crazy, and because I wanna hear Poltergeist properly first. If the studio version sounds good, it'd most likely be at the top.

Just wanted to chime in on the KNY hype.

I haven't been this excited for a deftones album to come out since waiting for ATF and White Pony.
I chalk it up to the strength of DE and the fact that the singles for SNW and self titled just didnt pump me up in the same way KNY tracks have so far.
So far, to me, KNY sounds like a hybrid of White Pony, DE, and something entirely new.

The feeling of waiting for a new deftones album to drop is the closest thing in my adulthood that compares to my childhood feelings of waiting for Christmas to come. Simply awesome.

Funny, I fit into your paradigm - self-titled is my favourite & DE is my least favourite - though I would consider myself to be mostly optimistic. I just don't find the songs on DE to be as dynamic to the rest of the catalogue.

Me too wondering how Poltergeist will sound on studio ver. I have some good feeling about it.

Tempest is a very well done song.
I listened both 3 songs carefully. (not overplayed any of them. Just once or twice a day)
They are all great.
But Tempest is greater.

Rosemary is nude (like mascara), has some bad bridges between parts (leathers is better on that) and have a potential boring chorous.
The ending you talk about is actually nothing special.
We have seen better outros, but still it is ok.

I dont know the lyrics so much cause English is my secondary language so i can easly say Tempest is better than Rosemary and Leathers on music wise.

Nice to see the album didnt leak. Because it deserve not to be leaked.
And that Poltergeist studio version thing was just a enigma. It has no way to be leaked
Nobody has the song, it was just live version of the song.

what the fuck is this THE deftones shit its fucking annoying, its not THE slipknot or THE rammstein or fucking THE depeche mode-its fucking DEFTONES one word one compound word in all caps or lowercase but no "THE" preceding it. as far as i know thers not a deftones2 or deftones jrout there...
So the band has no need to distinguish themselves from any other band (or type of music or anything) hell thier genre should be called deftones.
