When the album drops, heard it before or not, you will listen the songs you like more than the others.

I disagree. If I play one or two songs to shit 1 or 2 or 3 months before the album comes out, those songs will be like holes in the listening experience that feel more worn out than the rest of the tracks in the album together. I'm an album kind of person. I don't just skip around on records to the songs I prefer more. I want to be able to spin it in full each time and have it feel at least somewhat uniformly new. So holding off makes perfect sense for someone like me.

This. Completely. Kinda had this with Rocket Skates. If you play a song to death, when the album comes out that song sticks out. Feels like it doesn't fit. An album to me is a whole, not just a collection of songs I'll skip through. It takes a while for the newer tracks to get as familiar as the leaked ones and for the album to flow.

Agree. But I never care enough to not listen lol. That said, with DE I played the shit outta Rocket Skates. Listened to it 100s of times before the album came out. Poltergeist and Rosemary I've heard like 5 times, Leathers...maybe a dozen times. Tempest only a couple of times. So I should be all hyped up for the album without overplaying any songs. That said, I never listen to an album all the way through if it contains songs I've heard; I skip the songs I've heard until I've heard the rest of the album. Then I listen the whole way through until certain songs become my favorite. Then I play them repeatedly for weeks until it changes.

I remember wen the DE leak came out, it was just wen I was about to sleep. I'd already been awake more than 24 hrs, but fuck it, new Deftones, had to listen. With all the excitement of new music that sounded awesome, I was no longer tired. Listened to it for a few hrs repeatedly until I was tired enough to sleep...then couldnt sleep because my mind was playing snippets of the album constantly.

Good times, good times. I await the same for KNY.

Guys...I've never understood why you were all obsessed with sound quality (by which I mean most of the time it all sounds the same to me). I just bought new headphones today. My old ones have always been suckish, but anyways, I used my new ones just now wen I was listening to Leathers and ohmygodwhatthefuckhaveibeenmissingouton. This is amazing. Music is even more amazing than I thought it was. Oh shit. Anyways, so yeah, basically, now that the music actually sounds better, I'm even more excited for the new album. Easier to hear all the different aspects.

Get some noise cancellation ones or Bang and Olufsen headphones. They're expensive but I've tried them and the sound quality is awesome.

Havin a small recording studio in my house means lots of amazing headphones. I'm a total audiophile and quality snob. I like to experience every nuance in music.

And yes, no more gigantic sigs!! I've been guilty of it but I've see the error of my ways. Even the one I have now is a bit big and some guys here (the Eros sig an the deftones American flag sig) are fucking ridiculous. Especially when they're posting every other comment.

So I've only just heard these new songs with well-functioning headphones and I'm even more blown away, being able to hear it all clearly.

I'm just repeating myself, but I am so excited for this album. I love all of their albums, there's only a few songs I dislike, so it's not like I have anything to be cautious about unless they ever did a Linkin Park. But even so, after having a more simple, happy, clean album, it'll be nice to have an album that's more experimental (for them), not so straight-forward, containing different vibes and emotions.

I hear ya, i am not cautious either about the album being good if that's what you mean. We know its going to be excellent. And the best part about the album release is they are going to be on tour for the next year and half at least.
