What the? iTunes says that Tempest is actually 6:20 mins. long just like the preview on thespin.com but as soon as I download it, the runtime changes to 6:05 mins.

DeftonesNZ

Maybe it's because the deftones sometimes overlap their songs like the next song will start at the end of current track or previous tracks ending will carry onto next track maybe they had to cut off bits of other songs.

Tempest is confusing. some sites say 6:05 some say 6:20. The one i heard on Purevolume.com was 6:20 and had better quality. I don't know why they uploaded a shitty quality version on their youtube channel.

Has anyone downloaded the song? I haven't. Which version did you get? I hope it's not the shitty version.

Take leathers for ex: the version that they gave us for free...  Is 413... And the iTunes version is 411.. Not so much of a big difference..

iTunes also lists the release date as 11/9...

There's no difference between the versions. I've listened to the longer one on Spotify and it has 15 seconds of silence basically with some ambient noises. It's the 6:20 version.

It looks as if there has been an official change in the tracklisting:

1. "Swerve City"
4. "Poltergeist"

I had already been set with "Poltergeist" opening the record. It'll be weird hearing it after "Leathers" now.

Someone already said that above..

Bro, I get it. Just figured this would be bigger news than it has been so far.

Probably because we're assuming it's a mistake.  You are talking about the itunes one right?

Knucklestones

Looks like Tempest is pretty popular so far. There's a show on one of my local radio stations and it's up by 80% against another song.

bewareofrats

My stupid local radio station doesn't seem to know how to play Deftones.

I used to get Minerva and Diamond Eyes (the only 2 Deftones song our local "modern rock" station had) during the request hour, but due to a recent format change to 100% hipster and bloated rock star fare I'm certain I'll never hear Deftones on the radio in my town ever again.

the deft ones

I reckon Triple J (the leading alternative radio station in Australia for quite some time) played D'tones, maybe, twice in the 10 years or so that I listened to it.
Then, when the band toured here, they'd interview them like they were all over them - and then once they left the studio, never play them again...
Could never understand it, given their profile around the rest of the world.

But hey, i guess there's no accounting for taste....

bewareofrats

So is there any verification for the tracklisting itunes has?

Yeah our local station did that when Black Label Society came and again when Korn came. They would have them in studio, play them all the time from the concert announcement until the day after and then never again. I'm not a fan of either of those bands but that shit is annoying. Deftones coming here is the only way they'll ever get played again but I'm not holding my breath on that one.
