It's not going to be Diamond Eyes part 2 I really doubt.  I think it will be closer to it though than DE was to SNW. 

And I can see comparisons of DE to ATF in that they are both pretty straight-forward, simplistic records.

Well, in my opinion, we don't have to worry about KNY sounding like DE because what we've heard, again, in my opinion, sounds nothing like it.

hmm... I guess, but why does everyone want it to sound like stuff we've already heard? That'd be kind of boring, it'd still be awesome, but I'd rather hear a new sound. And the whole band was at a different place and a different age (obviously)/ state of mind when ATF, S/T, etc. came out. They're never going to feel the EXACT same way they did then, if that makes any sense. So you can't count on a distinct sound until they start to release material, and so far, Leathers and the live recording of Rosemany and Roller Derby (Or Poltergeist or whatever) sound pretty damn awesome. To me it doesn't really sound like any other album by them, but if i ABSOLUTELY HAD to compare it to past material, I'd lean towards a cultivation of all the past records. Which is cool
But I like to think it's a totally different sound altogether.

Chino was fucked up on drugs in 03=GREAT ALBUM...They all hated eachother on SNW=GREAT ALBUM...Now with DE and KNY they all love eachother and are all about unity as a band=not nearly as dark or fucked up an album....pain/torment/hate/drugs will equal a great album....Loving eachother will equal a simple rock record like DE.......The fact Chino is fat again and drinking a lot again might give me some hope the new album will be somewhat fucked up...But I still expect DE part 2

1. SNW is better than DE to me, but I'm not talking about SNW, mostly S/T. It's their darkest and deepest release to date. And I prefer the SNW screams, over the DE ones, if you want to know.
2. Yes, Chino's been gaining some weight lately. And the live performances have been way rawer and darker too.

1.  SNW is absolutely excellent.  It is their best record.  It was the "whole lot more" that WP lacked.  Chino's screams were weak in parts but sounded great in others.  Overall they were fine and dandy.

And the stuff we've heard so far from KNY sounds more melancholy/darker or whatever than DE.  So we'll see.  Plus with Chino playing more I think we will get a fuller sound than DE.

I just flat out disagree that SNW is their best album, but to each to their own. I think it really had the potential to be their best album, but I think all the fighting among them actually lead to it becoming too fractured and all over the place. Don't get me wrong, though. I do like it.

I do agree with you that KNY will be different from DE. All of their albums are different.

Anyways there's a vote up on loudwire, and I hope some people will vote to help out deftones, even though they're already winning by a bit:) Oh and SNW is an amazing Deftones album, I thought that DE was hit or miss, while I loved every song on SNW minus U,U,D,D,L,R,L,R,A,B,Select,Start, yeahh that includes Pink Cellphone:p

My biggest complaint w/ SNW was some of Chino's said screams, and it sounded like he just didn't have very good control over his voice.  Like in Beware, it sounded like he was just trying to sing above his range and struggled.  I hear some of that in Leathers too unfortunately, but the song has some good elements too that I enjoy.  I can't be the only one that thinks this.
