It's not so much about the best song. I just get a kick out of some of the fans of the newer stuff. It's interesting, because it's like two different worlds, go back to White Pony era fans, they're completely different to fans of the newer material (IN MOST CASES). I don't know, I just find it strange and mildly entertaining. It's like two different bands. With a whole set of fans for each band.

And, a lot of times they do not get along. Just like some kind of rival gangs or some shit.

Kings of Leon have the same dynamic, probably more so

um... to provide and make money for a baby isn't the same as raising them and being there for them at all. if he's on the other side of the globe, how the hell could he learn them about right or wrong? skype?

have any of you ever thought they are taking a break because of the holidays to be with family? (thanksgiving, christmas and new years).

This.  At this point, they have been prolific in producing new material.  They've been doing it for 24 years, and in order to continue on with this new unbelievable pace at which they are creating great music, there has to be balance.  Also, the business has changed.  Why would you break your balls 'promoting' a record when nobody buys music anyway.  Deftones could play KNY in its entirety 365 days in a row in 365 different cities and it wouldn't translate into any measurable amount of additional CDs sold.  I love how they handled the release of KNY, and am glad that they are putting their wellness and families first.  They know when they go out on the road their core audience follows.

Koi No Yokan was nominated for album of the year on Ultimate-Guitar

3rd place too, behind Slash's "Apocalyptic Love" and Jack White's "Blunderbuss".

To me, Koi No Yokan is pretty rad, musically.  It's not Chino's strongest record, lyrically.  'What Happened to You,' though, is one of the most beautiful things this band has done.

I actually have to agree. I first really disliked WHTY, but I find it now dreamy, lyrically intruiguing -except for the (over)use of the word night, again- and musically original -and this may be the reason why I didn't like it at first. The  bass reminds me of The Police. The drums are quite unusual for them and I like the guitar parts. I think this song have the same kind of vibe than 11/11 the closer of the TS album.
"When I show up, it's all good" Chino Moreno

It's the theme of the song and the lyrics i find beautiful the whole "We're alive somewhere else" thing i really like, and now you mention it the bass does remind of message in a bottle a bit it has the same reggae sort of sound. Also sonically it's really sweet sounding

You just come off as the "old fan"/"fan of their old stuff" stereotype. Ever thought a lot of people are just fans of the band period, old and new?

I'm not picking sides on this one, as it's an un-win-able and generalizing topic, but I will say the crowd at the last show I went to was a lot different that the crowds I've seen during past tours. I really couldn't help but notice the different demographic, it was almost drastic.

Haha, like I said, it's a precarious subject and I don't like speaking in generalities. To be candid, the stereotypical hipster quota was high, a dominant presence even. I know that claim can't be substantiated and is mostly based on fashion cues,  but it was a little odd for me. Anywho, no judgement, just observation.

The same happened to me.  I didn't like it at first, now it's in my top 5 KNY songs somewhere.
9/26/10 - Patriot Center
5/22/11 - Sunset Cove Amphitheater
8/7/12 - Verizon Center
10/26/12 - Ram's Head Live
3/8/13 - House of Blues
10/8/13 - Baltimore Arena
7/31/15 - The Fillmore
8/8/15 - Susquehanna Bank Center
8/3/16 - Pier Six Pavillion
6/14/17 - MGM National Harbor
5/17/22 - The Anthem

TheShade1989

It does seem weird how they've went about this. Break frm touring, not playing any other songs frm the album, etc. But Chino said they were gonna introduce new songs slowly over the touring or something like that, and I dont think it's far-fetched to think they just want a break to spend time with their family rather than tour non-stop this time.

Deftones are just like us all...human.

The record company is being coy, still no Tempest Video??? WTF
