Well, I love the new record. Only weak songs IMO are the last 2.

Goon Squad haters GET OUTTTTTTTA HEREEEEE :P

seasick

Time to acquire the physical copy so that I can stick it in my sound system and blast the windows out of the twelfth floor of my dorm.  8)

A few more days and many more listens in........Definitely the most consistent album since ATF imo. Not a bad song. I have even really started digging Graphic Nature. That song came out of nowhere! On my first spin of KNY, Graphic Nature almost ruined my amazing mood. Lately though, if I only have 10 or 15 mins to listen to a few songs, Graphic usually gets a play. Leathers/Tempest have regained a sense of newness.

I do not like much radio pop music, but my taste in music ranges wildly. In Flames to Imogen Heap, Deftones to Eminem's old stuff, Thursday to Lady Gaga (except the new album). While 75% of the music I listen to is rock in some way or another, I have always had a weak spot for an ultra catchy chorus. Maybe the pop sensibilities on KNY make me love this album so much as I do.

And before people bash some of the stuff I listen to, just know that Deftones are my all-time favorite by miles ;)
Throw your faith in me. I'll take you some place brand new....

Has anyone that preordered from deftones.com gotten their package yet? I haven't and when I try to track the package, it gives me an error.

I can dig your taste brother! Always better to have an open mind with things! You like what you like....if anybody says its shit then tell them to piss off :) This rule does not apply to Green Day and Blink 182 fans though...they can all burn hahaha

I am to loving Graphic Nature at the mo, that and What Happened To You are really really growing fast on me

It is brilliant, through and through. Nick Raskulinecz has finely honed this band's strengths into the next, next level. Terry Date got some great records happening, but each of his albums sound like a mere collection of songs, as opposed to a cohesive album. And don't get me wrong, those songs and albums are incredible, but DE and KNY are albums. The transitional cues between songs are perfect for a thorough listen from start to finish.

The soaring vocals with much less screaming, vocal delays, Delgado textures absolutely everywhere, 8-string destruction, and the almighty Abe are all present here. Sergio's bass is so tasteful in there - it mostly follows the riff, but when it steps away, it is perfect.

The song structures are getting more experimental. Romantic Dreams is a great example of this, as are Rosemary and Poltergeist.

There is NO "weird non-Deftonesy song" in there as filler. Pink Cellphone, Teenager...since White Pony, there have been extra bloat in the albums that don't fit with the rest. Don't get me wrong - those tracks are awesome, but they seem like "comp b-side" material, like Pisces Iscariot from Smashing Pumpkins did.

Speaking of SP, there is so much shoe-gaze dream pop going on, but then Steph and Abe just kill you right afterwards.

This is every bit as ambitious as a Pink Floyd album, but even more sonically diverse. Deftones are absolutely killing it for every single microsecond of this album.

I will blast this album into my earholes until the very second of my demise.

I have the same deal going on here. I cannot login, go through "forgot password" or even re-register. I'm sure it'll be sorted soon

Sounds like a load of shit. Their previous albums weren't "albums"? GTFO here.

KNY might end up ranking with Self Titled and SNW for me in the long run. We'll have to wait and see but I'm in love with it.

glad you enjoy it, i like it too :) i'm thinking opener and closer are somewhat weak, but i still listen to the whole thing without skipping songs

Swerve City is a great tune, but it could have been so much more! Maybe just add an actual proper verse structure? I dunno!

Thats the one thing I realized recently about KNY.  It will likely never contain my favorite deftones song, but it is a great listen start to finish with no skipping.
