deftones experience at Spirit of Burgas, Bulgaria 14/08/2011

I saw Deftones live for a first time last night on the festival Spirit of Burgas ( which I went to only because they were one of the headliners). It was amazing. I had no patience during the whole day and especially during the last minutes before they appeared on the stage. They opened up with Diamond Eyes. Musically they were flawless in my opinion. Some of the songs which were played were  My Own Summer, Be Quiet and Drive, Rocket Skates, You've seen the Butcher, Korea ( which I was gladly surprised about) Engine No.9,Digital Bath,Elite,( was FUCKING great),Passenger, Minerva (which I smoked a blunt to and I saw Stephen Carpenter smoke probably around 6 times between the songs ). It was amazing to sing along with Chino on Change, theres something about that song thats purely magnificent. There was an amazing vibe going on when Sextape was played, blue lights from the stage , chill breeze and having in mind that the sea was just next to us, it was great.  The show ended with 7 words while the end of the song was blended with Katy Perry`s  Fireworks, most of the audience was surprised about it , but I expected it so I was shouting the words to the song.I had my hands high during the whole time. It really felt like everything went too fast. After they left the stage I just sat on the sand and I think I even slept and tried to absorb everything that happened. Probably around 2 hours after all of this, while I was resting I saw Chino, Frank and Abe just walking around the festival`s crowd, I decide to run up to them and exchange a word or two. I said something like " Ey Chino , thanks for coming to Bulgaria man"  , we shook hands and he asked whether I liked the show ,  I answered positively , he asked where I was from and I told him I am Bulgarian. It was all pretty surreal for me , I mean even know when I write about it, Its like I see it as a dream hahaha. Then I said something like " Your new project Crosses is good" and he was like " Oh you like the music ? Cuz I like it too " . Then he was like " Ok thanks man , have fun ( or something similar I am not quite sure about it ) we shook hands again and they went into the crowd. I was pretty surprised that I got to talk to him. The minute after that I regretted that I didnt take a picture with Chino, but I was alone and it felt more natural to just talk without asking for an autograph or anything else.  It was amazing how they walked among the crowd, some of the people who recognized them were probably equally surprised as I was. I had a great time , and probably the only things that I can complain about are that they played for around an hour and it felt like it went too fast and the other thing is the set list. I expected them to play Knife Party,Back To School or Kimdracula but unfortunately that didnt happen. I really hope that I will be able to see them again someday. Even if I dont , I am still happy I got to see them and meet with Chino. It was really an amazing experience for me! I thought I could share it cuz I am still pretty excited about it, it only happened last night wow...

they didnt play feiticeira or bloody cape as well. and while I see the set lists from the previous shows I am like " why the f*** werent those songs played last night.. "

Yeah , exactly my thoughts , i think it went on for an hour and ten minutes or something close to that.. i was surprised as well , cuz seeing the set lists from Budapest and Bucharest they are both longer ...

... and from ST they only played Minerva
maybe its because the next band which played after them were the main headliners and I was too hyped anyway...

im going to see them tomorrow when they come to warsaw poland. cant wait, itll be my second time seeing them. first time was in amsterdam like 2 years ago. i actually ran into chino a day before at a coffee shop and had a short convo, good times! any polish fans on this board going to see them tomorrow? its a must because its their first time here.
