hi man

So I love how chinos voice is and how the production of the songs are done. Its something about the effects on chinos voice that sounds so huge and awesome. But Im a noob when it comes to audio production. I really like the effects/or how the EQ was used on WP, DE and the new crosses song. I hear mixtures of delay, doubling, reverb maybe even some chorus effect? Does anyone have any guesses?

I'm a bit of a geek when it comes to music technology gear and software. It's not the specific album you asked info on but here is a quote from Ryan Williams who mixed most of Saturday Night Wrist.

Quote"Prior to starting the first mix (Hole in the Earth) I was trying to figure out what I was going to do to make Chino's voice sound like he does on some of the other records. When working on the first mix, I quickly realized that I didn't have to do anything. It just sounds that way. There are extra harmonics/ notes that you hear in his voice when you solo it. Sometimes I would filter the voice a bit with Filterbank. If we added any grit, it was often Lo-Fi. The delays were a combination of a real PCM-42 through the console and the Moog Delay plug-in or the Waves Super-Tap delay or Echo-Farm. I use the Super-Tap whenever I want to create a really big washy and spacey delay. Compressor was a blackface 1176. We also used an SPX90. I think it was 'Pitch Change A'. That's all the tech stuff but the real deal is just his voice. Really expressive and he is so identifiable. Something missing in a lot of current music."

And here's an article about the production and mixing techniques used when recording and mixing Diamond Eyes:

And a little info on the general Chino sound when Terry Date mixed ATF and WP:

Quote"The Chino vocal sound is usually based on a healthy amount of quick compression and patch #23 on the SPX 90... a doubler effect with the left side 5-10 cents flat, and the right side 5-10 cents sharp. And swimmy delays. Terry and I are both fans of the Zoom 9030 box, originally made for guitars (and it's not great on guitars) but perfect for nutty vocal and drum effects."

Do you have regadring the other albums? Im curious about it.
Also Carpenter used some Guitar Rig effects on Diamond Eyes, mainly in This Place is Death, i recognized them..
