Are the Deftones influenced by Radiohead in any way?

2 completely differrent bands!!! period! :) I hear  and see no resemblance at all. A couple tracks on Team Sleep's record sound a little Radiohead-like but a lot of stuff can be similar. Not just Chino's music. Chino wouldn't be as successful trying to alter his voice to Thom's. A full length 10 track record is too much for me at once with Thom's high pitched singing (emo-like imo) where a Deftones' record to me isn't enough! Deftones have more range in style and structure to me. If anything, Radiohead sounds like more other bands than Deftones does, and that's a perfect example of what I'm trying to argue. ;)
Pushing you back but still you ain't goooooooooone!!!!!!

And you think albums are released the day they're completed...?
No, but it wasn´t specific about what finished meant, i just pointed that out in case. however, it doesn't matter at all.

I agree with you, i neither can stand Yorke's vocals, thery too high and that (imo) makes his voice sound forced, unnatural, in the other hand to hear Chino singing (specially in around the fur) is something of wich i can't get tired, he also not just does sporadic high notes, he also can sing, growl and scream like a master (hear self-titled if you doubt it.). Maybe Deftones don't tryes a different genre on each album, but they're are much more unique being themselves all the time.

I like Radiohead and Thom, just dont see any resemblances and have never until this thread thought about it at all. There's NOTHING. Thom runs to a bed and pulls the covers over his eyes when Deftones wails over the speakers. Chino smokes a joint and chills out to a cpl Radiohead tracks. In fact he is probably the only Deftone who might listen to RH every once in a while. Maybe Frank but who knows n who cares. Deftones r Deftones. Radiohead is well, ehh Radiohead

I can see and understand the Deftones having a Radiohead influence, even if they haven't directly said "Radiohead is an influence of ours". With the release of White Pony, to me, the Deftones went to a different plane, where they were no longer a staple in Nu Metal, but started becoming timeless.

Musical influences work in a very strange way. It could be the whole band, their sound, a riff, a particular musician, what the band stands for, or how you relate to the band.

Something Tom Morello mentioned in an interview helped put my thought on the subject into words... something along the lines of "I took that Stadium Rock and channeled it through the filter of punk rock". A lot of people don't realize influences aren't just simple, they are way more complex. Some just view it as, oh you're influenced by Steve Vai and automatically imagine you're at home learning his shit. Not that it might excite you to pursue your own sound/style.

Still don't believe Radiohead is among their influences really. Them becoming "timeless" w WP had nothing to do with Radiohead. I will say that I thought abt it and realized "Teenager" the WP version is very Radiohead like but idk, don't think so.

I'm a huge radiohead and deftones fan and I can say that they're just two different bands.  Radiohead is art and Deftones is music.  You jam to deftones and you listen to radiohead (pardon the shitty wording).  Just my opinion.
