I was reading a short story by J.D. Salinger, "Teddy," and thought of the Deftones song Mx right away. For those who aren't familiar, read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teddy_(story). Its short, I promise. Anyway, the theme of women as distractions, shove her over the ledge lyrics, the money/clothes dealing with being superficial, and the whole attitude of the album "pretty outside and ugly inside, around the fur" messgae all seem to connect. A lot of Chino's lyrics on the album deal with women anyway, let me know what you think. Again, its just a connection and not a "This song is about..." type thread.

I don't see the relevance.

Thats fine, I respect that. It had to do with the shove her over the ledge lyric and the vibe I got from the female voice (Abe's ex-wife? idk) throughout the song. Through the song, the woman gives me this nagging complaining feeling and the male perspective is just going through the motions with his answers and thinks she's a "bore." He gets fed up and shoves her over the railing (pool in the story). In the story Teddy was progressing in his past life spiritually until he met a woman. Both in the song  and the story, it sounds like the male perspective and Teddy would be better off without the woman. It was just a connection I made and I'm sure the song is about something else, I was just looking for other people's opinions (similar or different).

the lyrics in mx like "let me think ..about crowds...and money.. and new clothes.."

..makes me think of chino standing infront of a crowd and him thinking that all those paying visitors can buy him lots of stuff

I can see where you get the connection frm, but I think it's a stretch, and that the song is just about superficiality in general.
