Dunno, I opened the file and it tried to get me to buy something. Enlighten us Musings.

from_musings

it's a Zane Lowe interview from 2006 with abe and chino, chino says minerva cost 1 million dollars to make.
Zane goes "HOLY FUCK is that what it cost!? where did you record it, on mars??"

BillyNo.9

Christ man :O I thought you were joking, but when you consider how much flying all that heavy looking shit in the video out to a saudi desert, along with crew, plus food + water it makes sense.  It's crazy how much they had to spend in 2003 XD

bebo

Pretty sure it was filmed somewhere in Cali or the western US

Searching the machine might reveal what you don't want to know

Hexagram, on the other hand, was probably a very cheap video. between 30-50k. all they had to do was rent out a skate park, get a bunch of fans, give them sandwiches and water, and have a film crew. probably way under 50k.

...I didn't get any sandwiches.

from_musings

..what a rip off.

(there's a chance of this being posted before:)

deftones - making of minerva

honestly, 1m is a joke or a mistake. there is NO possible way it cost that much. plus I think they were talking about hole in the earth, not minerva. it was a joke, a very dry joke ;) lady gaga's music videos cost 10m though so i dunno... maybe? I live inside the indie realm of things, maybe major label videos cost a lottttttt more? still think its a joke though

The sort of joke that you tell if you're on meth

they're joking around a lot, but since zane is believing and reacting in a powerful way to what chino says when he says it cost one million dollars the first time, the chino i know would right away say "nah im just kidding" when zane isn't getting "the joke".
abe starts talking but zane gets back to it once again with "one million dollars??" - none of the guys denies it, they just look guilty with a "it's fucked up, right?" - face. why didn't they say anything when zane clearly isn't getting the dry joke?  it's okay to joke in interviews but if the jokes becomes factual errors and the interviewer doesn't understand it they would've said something i think. if it isn't true,i would guess mistake or exaggeration more than a joke.if it's hite they're talking about (possible) it doesn't look that expensive either. but hey, you're the one who said cheap looking stuff could be expensive ;) personally i don't know what to think, i could be a bad joke gone wrong too. confusing

Penicks

i think one million could be very possible.

skinnypuppy

point taken, from_musings. could be. you may be onto something.

i could make the most epic video ever for 1m compared to that piece of cripe hahaha

Penicks

i never understood why some parts of the clip are in a cropped aspect ratio, looks horrible

Gotta admit - HITE is a pretty weak video. I didn't really much like the song when it came out either, although it did grow on me and I do enjoy it now.I always liked the video for Mein - poor Mein, it gets so much hating!
I think the dancing on Mein is pretty cool - Mein has got a seriously cool beat, Abe's drumming is brilliant. If you don't like the song, Abe's drumming should at least be appreciated, and I think the dancing just fits the beat perfectly.
Deftones have never really made great videos. I've enjoyed a few like Bloody Cape.
Luckily its the music itself that really counts!

I like Mein because of the the drums, not much about Chinos lyrics, the guitars or even Serjs presence there. (hes there')
But yeah, HITE looks like a 80's videoclip... and a bad one. If they removed the space parts and the ugly green screen effects it would've been better i guess.
