I totally agree because unless you're looking for Linus being a very interested fan and all, it's not really out there to stumble on by accident. What I'm saying is it would be easier to hear if they wanted it to be. I didn't hear Linus until like 2005 and bought my first record by Deftones in 1998! It is a naive expectation for sure man.

This just hit me..Listening to "Gift" gives me a team sleepish vibe as well as Carpenter playing melodic stuff...even at such an early age

Wow! Out of all the songs they could play live - Gift!?
Not dissing you - everyone has different tastes, I just don't think it's a very good song.
I really doubt they'll EVER play it - from what I can make out they're not too proud of Linus, and rightly so, it's the sound of a young band still finding their feet.
It's not bad for a demo tape but it's nowhere near the standard of what was to come.
It does have some truly embarrassing moments though like 'Answers' - I'm sure the band would like to pretend they never did that one.

i don't think they're embarrased for the linus stuff. it's like you being embarrased for a picture you made when where you were a little kid. we all grow,mature and develop, it natural to get better at things.no need to bash a young you, or for deftones to bash a young deftones

if gretzky watched some old videos of him practising hockey as a little fart im sure he wouldn't feel it was embarrasing. i think he would think "without that training, no me being a hockey star later". but to think him falling on his ass in practice as a kid is as a good hockey player as him winning the stanley cup, or even to compare them or talk about it as its got the same quality, that's when it gets wierd

i just can't take that dorky vibe in linus seriously...  to compare clowny songs like answers freaks hump gift with songs like fireal, damone korea,wgtb - to talk about them like they would be in the same leauge doesn't work for me at all. when they recorded adrenaline they had decided to go for a aggressive bleak sound with heavy metal guitars and a clear emotional korn influence in the vocals, that's when they became deftones as we know them today imo.they picked those songs from Linus that would work to re-do into their new-style as a band. its hard to see that the other songs would work on the adrenaline with the same treatment and they prob thought so too. i don't hate linus by any means, they're just songs that make you smile because the're funny. what i look for in deftones music just isn't there for me. when they played linus live, wasn't that a funny birthday thing ^

god's hands isn't on the like linus i have, the version that's out there sounds like something they recorded round adrenaline. maybe it was linus sounding when it was called quirk

the net version of gods hand with the adrenaline style is prob recorded in 94. maybe early 95. the linus stuff is from 92-93. they way chino sings on linus isn't anything like in gods hands.again, i wouldn't be surpirsed if a version of quirk would sound more like linus stuff
