Damn dudes.. just noticed that Diamond Eyes and Rocket Skates are well over 2 million views on youtube!

So I'm guessing the album is doing well and the guys are doing pretty damned well. :D

I was kinda wondering.. Do Deftones play in bigger venues in your country/city after DE?

Over here, i guess the venues are around 25% bigger. But it sold out on the evening itself.. (netherlands)

Does anyone know any sales-figures?

The biggest show they've ever done here is at Wembley Arena after S/T was released and I'm pretty sure that album didn't do as well as DE is doing at the moment. They've been playing the same size venues over here for a while now and I doubt DE will send them into popularity where they need to start headlining bigger venues than Brixton Academy for example.

s/t didn't do horrible:

"the album sold 167,000 copies in its first week of release in America opening up at Number 2 on the billboard 200 (the highest charted album to date by the band)[citation needed] and went on to sell over 500,000 copies in the U.S. giving it Gold status. To date the album has sold aproximately 836,245 copies in the U.S."

yes, it's different times now, ander after white pony's success those numbers weren't what everyone hoped for, but self titled isn't THAT far from platinum,1000.000 sold rec in the u.s now. (white pony and adrenaline already sold platinum. )

Yeah I know they went pretty big after WP, and they did the 2003 tour with APC. That combined gave them really big venues.

But what I'm curious about... After the 2003 S/T tour they went pretty small clubs (here in holland) ± 1500 people. But now after DE I see new people, more people liking it. So over here last show was at a stage that holds ± 2200 people.. So I was wondering if the same happened in other countries?

Defo more attraction especially since they´re playing where pretty much no one is going like the pacific tour they are goint to do now. Also they played much in eastern europe recently + they got back to venues they had when they toured for WP, Sweden, Finland Norway + the old classics like Britain, Holland, Belgium and Germany are still in. I´d say they´ve become more popular with DE, they may not play that much of the big stages like they did let´s say for WP or even S/T but more spread all over. Imagine places where they´ve not been before since 06, Middle America Tour, Pacific Tour, Eastern Europe alongside with the major tours in the US and Western Europe + they get back to Australia quite big since about like S/T era BDO.
Venues might not become bigger if you compare them to their prime time like Rio 2001 ( how many - 100k ? 300k? idk) or even am Ring (75k-100k) 2003/2006

I got the mailing list e-mail yesturday sayin DE was voted album of the yr by Kerrang mag and also was given rock album of the yr by itunes which has led to a bunch of places doing special offers.  That must be a good sign in these times of so many people not buying music anymore.  It shows that at the very least us deftones fans are still among the best around for supporting the band we love.

good news man. iTunes i heard that on here, but Kerrang! too.. :) It's really the appreciation they deserve for doing a two albums (with the same money/time etc)

It was #2 album of the year in Kerrang (Bring Me The Horizon was #1). But it scored Rock Sound magazine #1 album of the year.

ahh, must have been an over excited deftones fan sendin out that e-mail.  They were confident enough to put it in bold purple lettering.  2nd aint bad anyways considering the tastes of the alternative scene these days.

My bad. It WAS #1 in Kerrang. #2 in Rock Sound.

Damn, a white xmas in england and deftones coming number 1 in two seperate lists as well as a second in another.   I should have put money on this.
I guess we all deserve part of the praise for actually buying their cd's, vinyl etc.... unlike the 90% plus people who steal their fav bands music these days.
I think those of us still here from the 90's early 00's always knew we were deftones 4 life.  It just proves what an important and incredible band they are.  So many of their peers still going struggle from album to album with lineup changes and record companies trying to be mainstream, whilst deftones just do their thing and its always got enough in it to keep us all in there and gain a few more fans.  It even seems to filter out the type of fan you dont want by evolving naturally instead of in a forced OTT way.
Ah deftones love.

Are there any other lists around that they feature in?

i think that 836k number is way way off, i dunno where it came from but i can pretty much guarantee that if we got the real numbers for s/t it would be around 600,000. which is good, but will probably never go platinum barring a miracle. cause when snw came out they gave out s/ts album sales and it was 520k then. no way in hell it sold 300k + since late 06, snw didn't even sell that since then and it was new

Deftones-argentina

They earned No2 on revolver (No1 being avenged sevenfold. Oh well...something is something.

Critics & fans love Diamond Eyes but unfortunately the album's only sold around 155,000 the last time i stumbled across an update. Even SNW sold more by this stage.

yea, albums don't sell worth a piss these days. that's actually a fairly big number these days. thst would be the equivalent of about 600k 10 years ago

My teacher always said "little from_musings, remember, you must have sources to back up your argument ,keep that in mind when you write something" so that's what i did, I posted a source. If you wish to dispute the numbers you need to come up with a better source, not just say "no way in hell dude, the way I count it's .." that's not a better source.

Hidalgo

where's the source of your source? mine was hitsdailydouble.com, and billboard. they said 520k right before snw came out. about impossible to sell 300k from then, but i'd rather be wrong here so i don't care, hopefully it is 836k. i just know i saw the 520k numbers from expert sources and wrote it donw right then(yea i'm a deftones info nerd) that 836 number has no source, or does it? i'd much rather it be 836 k
