I went to the first show of the headliner tour tonight...

...at the Ventura Theater, setlist was SIIIIICK!
needles and pins, dai the flu, risk, and caress!

i'm gonna upload a few videos asap....bomb sound quality, average picture.
it was weird comin back to Ventura...last time I saw them play here was Chi's last show...
speaking of which, Chino dedicated Risk to Chi, i got chills.
there were a ton of recorders poppin, so this show better turn up here.

really tho, it's hard to think of new adjectives to describe their shows...i've seen em sooooo many times, but it's always fuckin magic.
great energy and vibes tonight, everyone (band and crowd) was happy and smilin...life is good.
chino did a new kinda screaming ending on lifter...tight.
bored was bomb too.
second chorus of Rocket Skates, i screamed "guns, razors" almost directly into the mic...chino was holdin it out for us to scream, and i was close.
beginning of elite was awesome....chino motioned for the whole crowd to become quiet, then when the whole place was almost silent, he leaped straight up and upon landing, elite ripped into existence.

those are all the highlights I can remember for now...i'll be back soon for the video ups.

I agree about 7 Words.  I love that song, but every time they play it you know the show's over.  They should switch it up, try something new or just start closing with Headup or something.

i guarantee you they're sick of playing over half of the songs they've been playing the last 15 years, not just 7 words.

personally, as a fan of an exciting show, i'd take 7 words over boring ass shit like change, minerva or hole in the earth.

Bored was the highlight of the night for me. Great setlist, but side from new songs from Diamond Eyes, nothing threw me off and made me go "HOLY SHIT THEY JUST PLAYED THAT?" Yea Dai the Flu was awesome, but I've seen it before.

Not complaining, the show was amazing. What song did they play as the first track once the encore started?

I would not object to them removing my own summer, 7 words, headup, lotion, change and elite from the setlist, but don't care otherwise, either. i'd rather engine no 9 and korea and be quiet and drive are guarantee's for every set.

IMO three of the only bands worth listening too/following.(Ken Andrews is the man, also i met him once, seemed like a really nice guy)
With the exception of (don't crucify me) Thursday (c'mon, they have their fucking moments, and their moments are nice IMHO),
and of course GLASSJAW.
Nothing compares with Deftones for me, but i think Glassjaw might be as close as it gets, in some facets.
Too bad Justin's a control freak bitch and Daryl's a fag or else "rock" music might be worth a fuck.
Y'know, it's funny, i saw/heard about Glassjaw for the first time when they opened for Deftones in Philly on the second show of the first White Pony tour, and i could have cared less at the time( whoever did their setup did an awful job, they sounded like SHIIIIT), but over time, i heard their album(EYEWTKAS), and began to enjoy it immensely. I bought their second album when it came out, and felt that at last i had found a surrogate for the Tones, but alas i was mistaken. They have many things(arguably) in common, musically(dynamics, intensity), but apparently not the "family" aspect that Chino, Stephan, Chi,Abe, and Frank have(had). To me they have become the example of what happens when a band with much potential lets their foibles and eccentricities defeat them. Which, in the end, brings us back to the Deftones.....
If you're a dissapointed fan of the Deftones.....YOU HAVE LET YOURSELF DOWN.
Don't let them fool you, these men are DEDICATED ARTISTS who have spent pretty much HALF THEIR ENTIRE LIVES fulfilling their dreams and exploring their souls, the depths of their friendships, and creativity, and in the process, have inspired a legion of DIE-HARD FANS that respect the integrity and feeling that this band and their songs(and albums) provoke. You know what? I actually do love Glassjaw. But MOTHERFUCK GLASSJAW......and....(input band you have similar feelings about here).............................................DEFTONES ARE the TRUTH. The end.
