Essential Deftones CD

I had a whole bunch of 15 year old deftones fans offended a couple years ago because I told them I didn't like ST.  So because I didn't want them to slit their wrist, I promised I would give it a couple more listens.  The fact that I didn't like WGTB seemed to be the worst of my iniquities.  So I gave that one a couple extra listens.  I guess by the end I at least understood why they all loved that song.  But I haven't listened to it since.

Lol eh...i didnt care for any of the screaming songs at first. I remember i liked the intro to hexagram and would switch to pins and needles as soon as chino started screaming. I think i just forced feed it to myself enough times(cuz i was tired of every other record) that i started to enjoy it.

Whatevers clever.  Just not my thing.  But I do think that ST as an introduction to Deftones is a gross misrepresentation of their talent. ( with the exception of Battle Axe of course. )

It definitely isnt the catchiest album with the first listen. I dont think i would recommend it for an intro to the tones either but i still think they should eventually check it out.

As it has already been stated.  This entire thread totally depends on this individuals taste in music.  Plus it should be explained to them the time period when these albums came out.  So that they can appreciate some of the trail blazing Deftones did, instead of think that they just fell into a genera and copied another bands sound.

I agree, they were a groundbreaking band. There still is no one that sounds like them.

Yeah well whether that is true or not, a lot of bands have tried.  Which is why so many people try to classify their earlier work into nu metal.

hi everyone im a huge fan of those diamond eyed lads and i just wanted to thank everyone like for real for real i dont know many ppl who trust in chino and blaze get real blowed to melodic euphoria...that being said im not really into theyre more freshmen stuff you can say i liked watching their evolution.. i think that white pony started these waves coming at u..digital bath,fetish-era...then selftitled:anniversary.. lucky you, hexagram is fucking sick...oh saturday night wrist...xerces..pink cellphone, reviere! okay then this latest installment...sextape..beauty school is deftones version of becky...plus all carnage hence therin the rest...
