I'm making a CD for a friend who has never heard Deftones.I figured I can get 20 songs on the CD.
This is my selection - what would yours look like?
Of course if he likes them he better support them and buy an album.

Ive tried this quite a few times, and it's bloody hard.
If I were making one for me (which I have)- I'd struggle to narrow it down to 20 + I think deftones are a album band anyway (in that their tracks carry maximum impact when listened to in full album consession) so that makes it hard too, add to that what mood I'm in etc etc.

But the beauty of them is, the CD will be totally different depending on who you are making it for - if you know their musical tastes. A chick's would be different to a male mate's - and then depending on who either person is, different again.
(did that make any sense at all?)

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is Deftones cater for EVERYBODY, that's why they have some of the most passionate fans in the world.

I know this is not what you're asking in your thread BUT I think you should make him download the entire discography of the band. To me, its impossible to list 10-20 songs.

You'll give him the chance to listen to every little piece of Deftones.

Adrenaline is the one Deftones album I've never really liked.I listened to it a few times and put it aside - maybe I need to give it another chance.Rats! - I love Rats! - the screaming is brilliant and I love Abe's manic drumming towards the end! Beautiful!

Yeah agreed - how anyone can say this album is boring is beyond me - it's just so dark,so heavy,so brutal,so deppressing, so dam beautiful.It's a masterpiece for sure.How can you not love an album that has songs like Hexagram,Pins and Needles,Good Morning Beautiful,Minerva,Bloody Cape,Battle Axe etc etc etc

where is HEADUP?

Yeah it's not working - missing too many good tracks like Headup,Knife Party,Around the Fur etc - he needs to listen to all the albums!
