That was the night before i met them,  the day of the first show of the WP tour...
It wasn't better but it was good.
I really think DE on Kimmel is the best they've ever performed(on TV), i like the BQUAD on Conan too, but it's precisely what i was talking about earlier, where they were nervous/trying too hard, imo.
Chino hiding in his hoody, obviously drunk (and a bit off key at times), and Stefan going out of his way to rock out extra hard, affecting the sound.....compared to them actually performing a live show at a venue at the time, it seemed kind of forced to me......though i love drunk Deftones as much as the next guy....
But I think on Kimmel they were really casual and in their element for the first time, in all their glory, a performance like every fan knows they are capable of....and one that might actually impress non-fans, instead of them thinking "who are these drunk old spanish guys and why are they on TV?", to non-fans a big hangup always seemed to be how sloppy they are live(or were, i should say), i've heard something along those lines from more than a few people. (those people also are usually fans of Disturbed and Audioslave or some shit, no offense to anyone on here)
That being said, i would be just as happy if they did a Waldrock on Leno or whatever, the Conan BQUAD was very rockstar Deftones if you know what i mean, but as far as a really showcase performance, it's Kimmel all the way for me. Badass and i can't wait to see the rest of the set, plus now i'm super hyped to see them in September. Sorry to rant, i've got Diamond-itis, a common symptom of which is excessive discussion of all things Deftones.
