my thought was to do a whole band-cover... make the guitars louder, and include a video of the guy playing guitar..

so, guitar cover + backing band ;-)

so we still need a bassplayer?

And you have to be in the states, might as well send it to Gina straight away then...

well having to be in the states sucks. guess i'm out. unless anyone wanted me to do some guitar stuff for them. either way it sucks i'm omitted from all these contests they're always having. i've said it many times and i'll say it again. FUCK EASTERN CANADA! no shows, no contests, no street team, it's most displeasing.

If this actually happens I can do some vocals. I'm not bad at all and I'd love to support Chi. I also have some decent condensers and ProTools to record with, so I can at least produce some quality sound, if nothing else.

**Edit** Also, the video aspect of having a few people come together from different places all under the auspices of supporting Chi could really make it a winner. We could edit clips of people playing together, and have a short message at the end about hoping Chi gets better and that the guitar would be auctioned off in support of OneLoveForChi.com. Sounds like a completely good idea to me. We couldn't do a whole song though, and a short one would be best, as it would give us the 30 seconds we'd need at the end for the video message from everyone. As long as the person submitting the video is from the States, I'm sure our European and South/Central American brothers and sisters could help out as well.

Does anybody know what is going on with the contest?? The winners were supposed to be announced over a week ago (June 4th), but there is nothing on the UG site. Someone wrote this on Deftones Facebook page (not sure if it's true or not):

I have reported to the DEFTONES and GUITAR WORLD, that their video contest is being intereferred with by WMG's "muting" and even in some case DELETING the contestants videos. Clearly these submissions to the contest are not infringing on any of WMG's copyrights. This is absolutely ridiculous. There is NOTHING under the Content ID Matches secion of my account either. This type of action by WMG will damage the freedom of young musicians who enjoy playing the songs of their peers and idols in the industry. To say that these are copyright infringments, is simply assinine! Just search your own site for videos and responses to WMG! It is staggering the number of people that have been affected by this. If someone was recording WMG's "content" with the intent to sell for profit, this might be different. But a contest sanctioned by the "writer" of the song and soliticiting video submittals is no infringment on whatever rights WMG has to the music and songs of DEFTONES. It is just hurting the fans. We have not had this trouble with any other cover song we have made and posted on YouTube for other contests. This could cost YouTube also. If we can't post through YouTube to the contest, we will post through some other site.
