After seeing the promising i tunes and amazon chart positions over the past few days.

I was wondering how many copies of Diamond Eyes will sell in it's first week on the charts. Feel free to render a guess at a US Billboard Chart position as well. Curious what the European charts will do, any thoughts?

Bullet for my Valentines latest charted at #3 with 71,000 units sold. I hope the "Tones" can top that but who knows?

I think its a top 20 album Maybe top 10. The next single choice will be critical though as far as album sales go. SNW sales could have been saved i think if mein wasnt the last single.

Starz

Sextape will be next single no doubt about it.

Agreed about SNW.

To be completely honest I was really worried about this release. I saw Mudvayne's latest chart at #50 week one and I am convinced that band is on the way out. I doubt they will release another album.

Diamond Eyes is such a revelation musically and spiritually for the band. I hope they are rewarded with a top 10 finish week #1

Eros wouldn've been even less

976-EVIL

Good find Deftjess. I hope it is more than that, I voted 80,000.

Good question about Eros vs Diamond Eyes. Not sure myself.

thats what i mean     i have the feeling if chi never got hurt and eros was released as planned....                  suppose it all depends on how much you really care about sales and all that vs how much you just really like the songs on de and seeing them live

976-EVIL

I don't care about sales because the thought of losing "my" band to the masses is not appealing.

At the same time if a record does not sell then the band or the label is less inclined to continue. I don't think the tones would just quit but if they don't have a strong fan base, like most bands they would fold or find another outlet for their Art.

Me either. There's no way DE will do worse than SNW first week... not with the promotion and the album itself being as awesome as it is.

Both Albums leaked. It seems SNW leaked a week or two before the release where are DE leaked well before the release. Could this be a factor if DE falls short?

What do you mean? Close as in "sell as much Week 1 as SNW?"
Congrats on 3200 by the way.

are we talking TOTAL copies sold? if so then i  would imagine DE beating out SNW, however, i can see the itunes downloads negatively affecting sales of the physical copies.
by "TOTAL" i mean the downloads AND cd's combined, obviously.

there was pretty much only online advertising for this record, with the exception of the very recent addition of the Diamond Eyes single to some(many?) radio stations.
i wouldn't be surprised if the itunes downloads outsell the cds though i would personally be a bit dissapointed if that was the case.....

It'll sell a good 100,000 I reckon. I mean if Lamb of God and Slipknot can reach the top of the billboard, why can't Deftones? sounds like Godsmack might steal it from them though.

You may be right, it's probably the most loved by the band right now (well, according to interviews). Personally, it's one of my fav on the album, but I don't find it very representative of their work. Not that Mein was! ;)

and that new Godsmack is shit.  i was really disappointed by that but that's for another forum.
