Anyone else notice the laughing noise at 00:48, right after he says "the camera laughing at you"?

Yep

Yes. I'm liking this song more and more. Just had to get over the blown up expectations. I still feel the drums could have used a bit more balls but its cool.

I'm the opposite. :D I love his Romance imagerysong.

its not that, its the constant using of those words. it has nothing to do what the words are or what they stand for. i mean jonathan davis use "pain" a lot, robert smith "kiss", joey cape "hypocrite",  morrissey likes to sing about cars and so on.. its like chino wants to have somw words that are typically "chino" but it just gets annoying

Hm...for a while I figured "lungs" was his word...he'd say it quite a lot. And then it became waves and the earth. Still, like you said, lots of ppl have words they use a lot.

defTHE1s

and in this album, anxiety, and his variations and waves haha

Yes yes, Deftones, yes yes, heavy metal, yes yes, nü metal, yes yes, fucking queer, yes yes...

mr.sinister

Earth is to "SNW" as Waves is to "DE".

I say for the next record he litters the line, "king kong" in every other song.

Far away

chino loves the earth, huh?

The whole song is awesome except for the horrible chorus. Chino sings way too high and a lot of the melodies are too traditional with no edge. While Hexagram has the most fucked, end of the world chorus. How can this be the same band?

I totally agree - the chorus is just boring.  Same goes for "Royal".

defTHE1s

i think royal is pure greatness, while cmnd/ctrl is quite... weak?
it's a good song, but... it lacks something

Royal and CMND are both my fave. Someone mentioned they heard laughing in CMND. I hear diamonds in Prince and door knocks on Youve seen the Butcher.

I actually feel that "Earth" was a bit more widely used on S/T but I could be wrong especially since the word is like the main point in both "Hole In The Earth" and "Kimdracula" which was actually titled "The Earth" initially. I actually feel like going through and tallying it up. S/T had an amazing flow of thematic words/imagery that traveled from track to track and kind of linked them all together. I love that.

I really love the recurrence of Chino's lyrical themes. It just doesn't get old for me. Which is why "King Kong" fucked with me so much.

SX King

The only thing that really bothered me is the repetitiveness of the riff and just how one dimensional the verse sounded. The song really grew on me though.

The main riff is just weird though. I think Stef is just using the octaves which makes it sound brittle or something.
