In all seriousness though, we know he can't balance both Deftones rigorous touring schedule and TS (now he's also got THG too!). I don't blame him for that. We're just acknowledging that if they are gearing up for another 'Tones record, TS is really going to be on the back burner. Even more so than before. Once they finish and release LP7, they'll go right back to touring for another two years. Personally, I'd be fine with a Deftones hiatus so he can go focus on TS/THG and Steph could go do Sol Invincto. Maybe also release Eros instead? Just my two cents, though (actually, my opinion is probably worth less than that). Of course, they are obviously feeling reinvigorated as a band, DT is their bread and butter and, at the end of the day, it's their decision to do whatever they want. Just hypothetically musing here.

It all sounds good in any order to me actually. Love all these scenarios. As long as the other members of TS and THG are still down years from now though, Chino would still be physically able to make these sorts of music. Get the Deftones' hard shit out while he physically can (screaming and running around on stage like a raped date) and then continuing his music career until he dies (like he said he would) w these and other projects. Fucking love it man, and it's all possible and hopeful for us all, bros, RIDE THE WAVE

i hate to say it but i agree i think Team Sleep is dead. well the touring album making Team Sleep im sure Chino and Todd will still make music together. Im glad I saw them when I did.

It's been an important and hectic twelve months in the history of Deftones and frontman Chino Moreno has been taking a well-earned break at home in California. When FL speaks to him he's heading for the mountains to do some snowboarding, an activity which no doubt provides some respite from fronting one of the most popular bands in heavy music.

In the past year Deftones have released their sixth album, toured through the northern hemisphere with a new band member and celebrated the tenth anniversary of the landmark White Pony record. Add to this the thought of having a seriously injured band mate in hospital and anyone would forgive Moreno for needing some powder therapy on the ski slopes, but surprisingly he says he's feeling invigorated after 2010.

"The prior years to that last year, we were going through a lot of stuff within in the band so we actually got to 2010 and got to release the record... It was a really invigorating kind of feeling that we were moving forward and doing things," he explains. "It was still tough, we're out their supporting the record and stuff and Chi (Cheng) is still really heavy on our minds, so to this day we still deal with it but I think we feel pretty strong, probably stronger than we've felt in the last five years, as far as the band, our friendships, our relationships and our work ethic and everything [goes]."

When FL spoke with Deftones drummer Abe Cunningham in April last year, Cheng was in a minimally conscious state and being fed through a tube. Moreno says he's still in a similar situation: "He's pretty much the same, but he is improving... we're trying right now to get him some more aggressive therapy and just extradite the situation, so that's what we're working on and we're just being optimistic... I think we're all very hopeful that he will get better, as for if he'll ever be on stage playing bass with us again- I can only hope so, but I would never know. If anything I just hope he can live some what of a normal life."

steph stop smoking weed? i think that'd just flat out ruin deftones. he should start smoking more weed! and if anything he needs to go back to the 6 or 7 string.

i like the 8 string a lot more than the 7 string. i prefer 6 strings over either, but i doubt he'd ever go six again. i want him to keep using the 8 string, and be more creative with it
