Wow what a gig! Deftones sounded spot on, no complaints from me. Great setlist, fantastic energy. Managed to get into the afterparty and then went onto a place called Cro Bar, then Abe and Frank turned up!

You've Seen the Butcher sounded amazing, deffo one of the best times i've seen Deftones, had a killer hangover on Thursday though!

Damn. I was in that bar after the show for a while, but must have left before they turned up!

This was really good. It felt quite surreal, moreso than the other 'club' gigs they have done in London in recent history.

I thought, overall, the venue was poor - music wasn't nearly loud enough (though OK right down the front as I was for the latter half of the gig), I didn't think the crowd was great, I did actually get a bit of grief from some prissy looking women whilst making my way down the front (asking me "what do you think you're doing?" as I slid past). One of the bar staff tried to say they wern't selling shots when I had been buying them all night... he changed his mind after I told him I'd just had some and repeated my order.

I thought the crowd were great towards the end like during seven words but it never really kicked off big time like it did at scala or the forum last year.

Passenger, b2s, lotion all rocked. I think it's a massive shame that they don't play anything off SNW, having listened to the album again yesterday it's a really strong record with lots of amazing tracks they have done live before like rats! , beware etc. Though of course I'm sure that they will expand and change the setlist as the tour grows longer, and bigger.

One of the things I thought as I left were, are deftones a band now actually more suited to a big venue? I'm looking forward to the Paradiso gig next month, and another UK leg this summer :)

in theory  i would think they would be......  yet whether or not 'a bigger' venue would sell well or not im not sure depending on what size venue youre talking about    i think the venues limp bizkit are playing now deftones couldnt play, sadly     part of me wonders if these smaller shows are attracting more old or new fans   like to build a new fan base....

These are all warm up shows I guess. Think they're just having fun with it all.

I dunno about that - I've seen Deftones sell out both the old London Arena and Wembley Arena - the latter is 20,000+ right? Of course this was a few years ago.  Both gigs were amazing! Then again the last leg I guess they played some of the academy venues like in Bristol.

Oppositely I've seen Limp Bizkit sell out Wembley Arena and Finsbury Park (OK the latter gig was free) -but some years later their popularity is waining, didn't they play Brixton recently?

I think after a few more months of DE promo (BBC coverage from what it sounds like too) there is a chance Deftones could well come back to one of the bigger 'arenas' - though Apollo/Brixton would be likely too I guess.

On a sidenote, does anyone have a copy of that recording from London Arena, March 2001, I remember it was up on deftones.com for a while

Deftones would own Arenas, they should be headlining the fucking things every time they tour!

But I agree about the venue volume. Was fucking quiet.

Starz

I don't have the recording (sorry) but I was at that Deftones gig at the London arena in 2001. I must have been 13 at the time and I remember my parents driving me and my friends all the way there as they wouldn't let us get the train lol. Good times

I've honestly been disappointed every time I've seen them in a huge venue.  I personally think they just sound better in clubs/theaters.  I think they struggle in arenas....

Menos el Oso

Yea, when they play in arenas, the sound isn't that great because of how much air space there's available. I prefer the small venues, because the sound is more closed in with the walls, and without that much echo either.

I wanna know toooooooooooooooooo

wheresmysnare

i honestly dont think they will anymore, the venue just wasnt well suited to filming, they had to film from crowd level and i reckon most shots were ruined by the crowd, i'd personally love to see the footage as i was in the crowd but anyone else watching it would be like 'this is shit all yo can see is people getting in the way of shots of the band'.

hey was that the docklands show u guys were talkin bout?   I was there, got 2 different recordings of it.  a friend of mind merged the two together and made an amazing final version.  they were amazing that night and the atmosphere was insane.

The original bootleg posted on deftones.com years ago was missing quite a few songs.

If you have a complete merged version as you say above, PLEASE upload it!!! I'd be very grateful.

Vesanic

I also have the two versions. The one from deftones.com (soundboard if I'm correct), incomplete, and the complete audience one.

Yeh, where is that ULU footage? Seems a little late now though.

Absolutely blinding gig so I'd love to see it again.

Gaz

MTV never said they would screen it though? I can't remember it even getting mentioned when it will be shown.
