if there was a "i like to eat my own cum" thread, then decent people would post stuff about those morons in that thread being stupid too so i dont buy that u cannot visit a thread that isnt for you...you can still have opinions about it. but its not about that, all i see is a more of a dumb countdown than a discussion. a coundown by people who thinks they are oh so great.

same thing in life in general, i can respect people who are good at things, but if they wont shut up about it and they do talk about it themselves all the time, that kills the respect on the spot.

Jesus2Chino

I don't think I'm great for holding out, but, as someone holding out, I do think it's great that there are only a few days until the album drops, and I'm expressing that through a countdown. The Deftones have a countdown as well, and I don't see how the concept is at all offensive. The point of me counting down is not to convey pleasure in myself for waiting, but rather pleasure that the waiting is almost over. I am not one to boast, in life or on message boards, and you won't find me doing so at any time. I have openly expressed that I don't have anything against those who didn't wait, and that in my opinion downloading it or not is not a dilemma of ethics. Keeping that in mind, what do I have to boast about? I hold those who downloaded the album, and those waiting for it both in the same regard, and am only waiting to buy it in order to enhance my own satisfaction when first listening to the album. It's not a matter of being "cool," or gaining respect, it's a matter of being excited that the album I'm waiting for is almost here, plain and simple. I don't see why you would take enough issue with that to try and bring it down, regardless of how one chooses to express it.

Wax And Wane

Wow.... I can't even believe this is being discussed at this point.  ::) I like coming on here and seeing a count down. It's exciting. No need for anyone to get mad at each other. Just let us have our fun for a few more days.

Because as Wax and Wane illustrates, others share the same pleasure in being reminded the wait is narrowing. It may not be terribly original or groundbreaking thought, but it was never meant to be or presented as such.

For the record, I'm in no way upset or mad, I'm just clarifying why I'm waiting, and defending against claims that I'm super pleased with myself for waiting.  Further than that I'm as happy as I was a couple hours ago when I continued the countdown, and I  will continue to be happy counting down until the album drops. Now, back to my leftover spaghetti lunch.

;D Well said sir. Deftones even have a countdown clock on their web site. It's exciting when you've been waiting 4 years for your all time favorite bands new album. We're just having fun... Besides there are many WAY more pointless threads on this board.

Lol, thanks man, it was delicious. In related news, I thought I had eaten all the meatballs last night, but there was one left hidden under the pasta--it's the small things in life really.

For the last three weeks, whenever I had the desire to listen to Diamond Eyes, I'd put on Adrenaline instead. It's a great system.

What if you hadnt listened to the leak, but you'd been at the El Paso show where they played a bunch of new songs? Would that ruin it for you too? Hm...I respect you guys' patience anyways. I have none, so, respect.

Hearing a song live, for some reason, doesn't seem the same as listening to recordings (even of a live performance). I heard Beware live, for example, at a couple shows before I listened to SNW. While I can say I was INCREDIBLY stoked to hear it, come album time, I barely recognized which song I had heard. The feel and sound of songs live and in person is very different from the same songs listened through headphones. Further than that, with huge crowds and excitement going on all around, discerning individual parts of songs and instruments is really difficult live. I basically sing and scream along at shows because I know the songs, but if I didn't, in general, I feel like I'd have nearly no clue how the songs went after the show was over. That being said, you CAN get a good feel of songs in relation to album versions listening to live recordings, which I haven't done, save listening to Rocket Skates two times when videos of it first hit YouTube. In retrospect, that is even going to kill it a little for me, as the song was super catchy and repetitive, and I still remember how it goes, haha.
