hahahaha i just found this forum recently but that is funny. btw that guys kidding right? only way sergio would become permanent is if chi permantly cannot play/perform. that being said, i feel sad.
but i agree w/inkblades, it's great that sergio was available/made himself available, obviously because of their history and friendship, further disaster was apparently avoided. it could have been alot worse if they had to do "tryouts" or something, imo.....
come to think of it, to my recollection, chi was the only member of deftones to have ever  been "filled in" for before.......I AM NOT DISRESPECTING CHI WHATSOEVER, but what if something had happened to another member of the band??? like stephen, or abe!!!! not dissing frank either, he's the man, but probably the most "replacable", and i think it goes w/out saying that if something happened to chino, deftones as we know them would be totally over.......but faced w/the loss of steph or abe? i can't see how that would be "deftones" anymore either, so in a way it's "lucky" that this happened to chi.......ugh i'm disgusted w/myself for saying that.....i'll boot myself later, but i think it's valid...........sorry if i've offended or depressed anyone other than myself.....

I dont like to think of deftones as numetal but i mean.. there not iron maiden style metal and they are heavy.. so yeaaa. Indie pop is trendy now .. as well as a ton of shitty studio produced garbage that people like to call RnB. (true RnB is ashamed). Deftones will never be as close to the spotlight as they were in 2000-2001.

also as per above, "alternative metal" is one of the only industry type terms i've ever heard applied to them that comes close to fitting.....
Chino himself described their style/genre as "mood music" which i like the sound of, and is descriptive yet vague which in itself mirrors their sound.

this thread had potential at one point, sadly when chi gets out there's going go be alot of rehabilatation and probably alot of confusion for our man, even if he decided to re-join the band it would probably be years before he'd be able to, he has to get himself together again.

i personally agree that chi won't be jumping around on stage any time soon... he is apparently making movement in his arms and legs now, but barely... and this is where he's at now after almost a year and half after the accident.. as someone above stated, as long as he can just enjoy the rest of his life peacefully that should be all that matters, why should we get pissed if he can't tour anymore? just be glad the guy made it through the accident and is recovering. we all know damn well that if any joe blow got in the same accident he couldn't afford the life support and months and months of staying in a hospital and treatment from doctors... if it were me they would have pulled the plug... so no i don't think he will rejoin deftones to tour or anything, considering i don't even think the band will be making albums 5 years from now... eros may be the last if they release it.. .maybe one more... nonetheless let's just be glad the bassist for deftones (chi) is still here on this earth...

I agree, I think Eros will be the last of The Deftones, Chi is going to be recovering for a long long time, even if he fully recovers i think it will be too late. Its not negative to be realistic, Chi is and will always be the Deftones bassist....but i don't see him ever playing with them again unless its a reunion years and years down the track!

i'd like to know exactly what happened, what caused the crash, who was driving, did the driver get hurt, what about the car that hit them and that person's condition afterwards, etc. we never got the story of what happened. just 'car wreck, Chi seriously injured' end of story. is it wrong for me to wanna know what happened. check me if i'm in the wrong

People in Chi's situation can take years to get out of, and once your out it could take years of Rehabilitation & recovering. The longer your in this state of mind the worst your body can deteriorate. Chi is fighting and we will always be on his side and he will be in our prayers. But we al know he wont be back anytime soon. I pray he will be but its not going to happen.  So I appreciate  you being trying to act positive in a horrible situation like this but we need to accept it for now.
