not sure but i think that Diamond eyes is played with an 8 strings guitar. But STILL look at that fucking groove! I cant ask for more.

groove? huh. wait a few months for munky to give some fuckin groove. groove in this wtf? steph doesnt really groove anyway.

- boring riff
- more boring chord progression
- good songwriting would actually mean goosebumps and i havent. nothin wrong with pop. cherry waves, ever.. pop and goosbumps. this: not.
- has SNW sounds (which is a good record btw).. but not like they said back to basic sorta.

- but ok.. its the transition vocally verse-to-chorus which is the real horror; directly recognize that typical mtv band quality, a just catchy enought boring one-hit-wonder chorus .. normally i'd straight turn such shit off. how is this exciting really? full song please!

are you fucking kidding me?   you use mediocre ass munky to make your point?  say goodbye to your credibility kid.

head&munk have (slightly used to have ok) a more distinctive sound both heavy and "clean" more even than stephen you deny, you get earcheck.

but wasnt even the point. GROOVE was the point. whats the groove in this sample.

head has been gone for years and since then your boy munky has proven beyond a reasonable doubt that HEAD was the driving force behind the songwriting.  Anyways, Korn has been sucking dick since 98 while Deftones and my boy Stef have continued to write relevant music.

I didn't say that Stef was "cleaner or heavier" than munky, nor did I use the word "groove."-- your words, not mine.  my point was that you referenced one of the biggest sellouts in music history in contrast to try and make a point that deftones were making boring radio rock.  you don't see a problem with that?

i am retarded

dont edit! we were about to start an internet forum fight.

It's not an 8 string unless he's tuning the 8 string to the same tuning he used for SNW on the 7 string. It's the same tuning as Rocket Skates which is the same tuning as SNW. I've been playing Rocket Skates on my 7 string ESP for fun. I've left it in the same tuning as Deftones/SNW.

i referenced munky for actually being groovy whereas this sample isn't, like someone said.

and i said korns guitar style is (or at least was) more distinguished, on both sides of the spectrum (heavy/"clean"). their shit recognize 1 out 100000.. steph, like rocket skates for example, not. hexagram again yeah. 50/50 with him.

yeah

dude your a fucking joke. DONT JUDGE THE STRUCTURE OF THE SONG UNTIL UVE HEARD MORE THAN 30 FUCKING SECONDS OF THE SONG!!!
Dingus.

Chino sounds great, but not really into the backround vocals in the latest 2 (snw,de) Tones records. Sounds soft. Diamond Eyes sample is not bad to me just hope the rest is "better" for lack of better word. Little too friendly and commercial sounding, but it was only 30 secs long and we've read that the end is epic, soooooo........ :-\
Pushing you back but still you ain't goooooooooone!!!!!!

to beavis:

its ok to disagree dude. thats what makes forums insteresting. You didnt disrespect me. I still think that we need to wait for the full song to call it radio friendly or not but im gonna quote the guy who made the review for Metal HAMMER:

"Diamond Eyes – A jarring, leaden riff pounds away while Chino's velvet vocals wrap lusciously around the brutality around him. The chorus is a thing of beauty here with its "time will see us realise, diamonds reign across the sky" refrain leading the charge but it's the intense low-end groove that really hits home hard here, the beatdown that closes the track is one of the heaviest moments in Deftones history. An astounding opener."

But i repeat, i still think those 30 seconds were enough to excite me (specially after SNW). And lets wait for the whole song before judging (pop, radio friendly or w/e) a 30 secs clip with a piece of the chorus and some riff.

ps: i dont think you can compare head/munky with stef. Its a totally different play style. Musically and personally, i think. I could give you some good song examples but i dont know why i have this feeling telling me that we would discuss about it non stop.

JESUS CHRIST ... are you fucking children serious about the radio-friendly/pop stuff?  this is why everyone thinks this board is full of raging retards.

These guys have been together for over 20 years.  I think they've earned the right to make whatever the fuck they want to.

I'm happy that they seem to finally be getting some serious marketing behind them.  they deserve it.  if they have some stuff that gets radioplay, then GREAT.  it's still going to be deftones, you numbskulls.  I mean, these guys aren't putting out a record of limp bizkit songs.

STFU already.

i wouldnt say like this but..

Ha shit.

That wouldn't mean that the song release got pushed back a week too, would it ?  ???

wheresmysnare

no idea it's all pretty random at the moment, what's a week though in the grand scheme of things!
