i like how people are judging this group of 11 or 12 songs based on one and 1/8th they've heard. rocket skates is still heavy and balls punchingly awesome and this sounds to be more in the vein of cherry waves, rx queen, etc. can't we just hold judgment until we have the final product people. it's not "radio friendly". deftones never will be unless they start working with black eyed peas and lady gaga and all that shit you hear on the radio. where i live theres only 2 types of stations, top 40 and classic rock so i'm guaranteed to NEVER hear it on the radio.

i imagine they'll give it the amazon/itunes treatment and eventually release a physical single though those do seem outdated and useless now.

I feel ashamed to admit that I am not feeling excited about this. Deftones don't make songs like this. To me, Chino's style is intrinsically uncatchy. It doesn't hit you in the face, it tends to seduce and grow on you. I know cherry waves is considered to be a favorite for some, but I personally lost interest. Because it got played out. like any other pop song. And I have a feeling Deftones have officially crossed a Pop-Metal threshold. For better or for worse.

dude I really don't like or try to be an asshole on this forum, but im sorry man your completely wrong.  deftones will NEVER, EVER be pop-metal band.  If you dont like the new songs thats fine.  But the deftones are special man, they create music that they love.   Not for some pop metal scene.  The Deftones are not LInkin Park and will never be anything like them.  Idk what kinds of new deftones music you looking for, but I have a feeling once the new album drops you will enjoy it man.
