it doesnt sound like frank's work..he usually plays more simple notes and melodies- meant to be heard.. that "piano sound" isnt meant to be prominent, the function of that sound is more to create and boost up a feeling behind of the guitar chords, make it sound big n massive.frank doesnt possess any of those skillz. maybe its nick raskulinez, he knows that kind of hit making shit.of course i have no fucking clue of what im talking about

I love how no matter what, Deftones will always have something new and fresh to bring to their music. yet they always manage to make it sound natural to them and not like some experimental mumbo-jumbo.

Diamond Eyes is purely grounded in the now from what I heard. It just doesn't have that timeless deftones vibe/sound. Hey, if you are a big Tool fan you gotta be loving it! Deftones pave the way and do thier own thing and have thier own sound. I just don't hear it in this. SNW material sounds way stronger than DE.

i respect your opinion but i disagree. I mean Rocket skates its a good song (i preffer it live though) but the 'overproduced' vocals are lame (IMO). And
this new song just show us something that we already know: the band trying new sounds and the song totally has their vibe, i think. I dont really care if it is radio friendly or gay because you can dance listening to it. For what i could hear in those 30 secs, im totally excited. And like someone said earlier, maybe his voice makes you feel the song is kinda radio friendly, but that guitar line goes to the opposite side. Like i said, i respect your opinion but i dont think every song they create gotta be heavy to sound like a deftones song. Sometimes i dont like some of their stuff
but you can not blame them for not trying new things. And i think thats exactly why they are so fucking good. They dont want to be only a metal band. I'm not sure

I agree it doesn't sound like Franks work, but I swear I hear some piano. It sounds very light to me and kind of mimics the guitar chords. idk...... we gotta wait for a better quality.  Whatever effects their using during the chorus make it sound EPIC
