Every time I watch the Rocket Skates vid, at exactly 4:09, I see Chi.
Seriously, though.  I see him.  Anyone else see him?

I've heard others mention it but personally don't see it.

One thing I really like about this video is that ever since Around The Fur Chino wanted to make a video that had some sex in it. If you've seen a live Team Sleep show or gone to one of the Deftones shows with the giant light panel they play clips from exploitation films like Roxanne

Someone even used it to make a youtube video for u,u,d,d,l,r,l,r,a,b,select, start

And yeah, for White Pony I remember reading an interview with Chino where he said he took out a video camera to after-hours parties and strip-clubs to put on the CD ROM extras, only the label didn't like it so all there ended up on there was shit like Chino walking down a sidewalk or something.

So if you've seen Roxanne or watch the youtube link, it gets pretty kinky and the chick in the movie starts cutting herself.
There was this epic Team Sleep show where the intro song "Scarf Bitch" had a projector behind them playing an old 70s exploitation film with a closeup of a girl having an orgasm.

When I watch Rocket Skates, I can't help but get the impression that the label made them cut out like some S&M or some intense kinky shit cause it's weird that the plot just goes

- escort waiting for chino
- chino meeting escort
- escort getting ready with a razorblade
- chino holding a gun
-
-
- poorly shot footage of chino and escort on some hill looking at the camera

I wish Deftones had the creative freedom over their videos as some other bands like Pantera and their explicit Home Videos that were full of drunken mayhem, tits, and weed. I'll bet if they were more supported to do whatever they want, Deftones videos would be a hell of a lot sexier.

I am guessing you have seen white pony ep. If not, that is the video they would make if "allowed".

i see what you're saying. although i read an interview where chino said they kind of handed it over to the director to make his own experimental thing for them.

I like the video, but meh...it doesnt make sense to me. Well, kinda. Wen I first heard Rocket Skates I figured it was about violent S&M sex with drugs perhaps. The video sorta implies that I guess. But the gun part doesnt make sense to me. Maybe it aint meant to. I dont know...

But, as has been mentioned before, it's actually a pretty good video for the Deftones, which is sad but true.

Not enough bands take the time to make interesting videos, which is such a shame.  Maybe they aren't
allowed to.  Maybe TOOL just got lucky to be able to have so much creative control over everything they
release.  I'm not a huge TOOL fan but I highly respect the effort they put into the visual art side of what
they do.

I had hoped that the SNW videos would sort of follow the vibe of the artwork, which I thought was great.
Unfortunately that did NOT occur to anyone else.

I forgot what my point was.

right..

lets analysis rocket skates video :

+ nice lens
+ nice stages
+ nice appearance of the band
+ a nice hot chick
+ nice filters

- stupid,nonsense camera moves
- bad montage
- bad directing
- stupid nonsense story
- stupid timing
-

Result : Another Deftones Video Clip classic

Yea that would be great.  I would like them to just use live footage for their music vids.  Kinda like the digital bath video.  That Entertain Me shit that Bennett did was great!

Actually, I thought some of the directing was very good.  The David Lynch style bit on the cliff
was really great, and actually improved my opinion of the song, which is really fantastic when
a video can do that.  I also thought the hallway shots fit well...

I'm not saying it's a great video.  But I don't know quite what you were expecting.  Taking their
other videos into consideration, I went in expecting little, and was pleasantly surprised.  I took
it for what it was.  Not great, but not bad either.

They're not Bjork, man.

Out of curiosity, what are some music videos you consider to be good?

I like the visuals with the music. Dumb and simple.

I like this type of video.. at least i dont have to watch random people (i bet most of them do not know the band) dancing and jumping around or some crap montage with the band on the space or something.

Its the band playing in a shed or w/e with a hot girl! Thats it.
