Anyone know of any pictures around the web that show what Chino looks like? I saw those Europe festival videos of Deftones in summer of 09 and Chino was thin. Glad he's in better health.

Where the pictures at? I'm used to Chino having a lot more weight. I'm started being a Deftones fan during the SNW era and he had a lot more weight on.

to be honest, he still isn't even close to 2001 and earlier weight. he has a ways to go. he's gettin close to s/t weight again though, that's a good start. if he gets back to 2001 physique i'd be impressed

i guess the last pic of chino is
face teh load.

As weird as this is to argue, I actually think he's pretty damn close to 2000. Definitely below the 2003 weight.

Yeah, I hate commenting on this because its so "celebrity gossip" but honestly, I care because his performance both in the studio and on stage really does rely on his physical health and I'm loving the way he's sounding lately. Especially on the studio version of "Rocket Skates." If he didn't look like he was suffering at his higher weights I wouldn't have paid much mind but I think in the end he's a happier person and a better performer because of this weight loss.

I don't understand how his weight is relevant to music Deftones make.
This is ridiculous.

When Chino is thin, live performances get decent because he sings better and doesn't seem like he's dying of suffocation onstage like an old pig.

Its not directly. Its relevant to the quality of his vocal performance. Like I said. And his vocal quality contributes to the overall quality of the Deftones music because his performance is part of the music. Understand?

well, when I heard him live 3-4 years ago he sounded quite well to me, and was really energetic, though he was kinda overweight.
Well, okay, you're fine here guys, but I just thought this is something like the old thread about chino socks.

i don't know about the old pig part, but i agree, with anyone you can hear it in their voice if they're overweight or whatever, i don't wanna dis on the guy, but if you listen to SNW you can literally hear some of the weight... so i do care if chino's slimming down, it definitely makes for a better performance all around. the rest of the band, with the exception of abe, i could care less what they weigh. abe obviously needs to stay in shape as the drummer...

I understand where you're coming from. I mean, its a fine line between genuine concern about real issues and total fanboyism. The socks thing is retarded and everyone clamoring over Chino's fashion sense is stupid in my opinion.

Shit, his socks didn't look any different than the ones I wore when I was like 7 anyhow. Its not hard to find striped socks. You don't even have to consult a Deftones message board about it.

to be fair to chino at least on the sound aspect... Im pretty sure I heard an interview after this show and Chino claimed to be unsatisfied with his performance due to illness. probly a cold or minor flu fuckin up his throat. I have the flu right now and me singing kinda sounds like that. flemmy and such

Indeed, I remember this too; something about his ears or inner ear troubles I think it was.

Lol, guys, you can't tell it's the only performance he sucked at. When Chino was ill during the oldschool days, he still pulled off an awesome show. Get your facts straight and fucking admit that Chino almost sounded like an amateur during this era. It's like he forgot how to sing with his diaphragm.
