Viral One Love? - For Chi

hey all...

well.. as you all know i am doing everything i can with the one love for chi website to continue to spread awareness of chi's condition/cause... i really want to do something that will create a viral movement.. preferably via youtube. i just thought SL would be a great place to brain storm together and see what we can come up with.

i don't know if you guys recall the "free hugs campaign" (music by sick puppies) that someone did a few years back that had like 55,000,000+ views.. i want to do something like that: YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

if we could do something (ideas??) and have people send in video clips then one of us can compile it together into one video to try to get it to go viral on youtube..?

So, I think i'm going to try to make a video / treatment for OneLoveForChi.. Just a little project to help with my video editing skills and what not but... if it all goes to plan, I will upload it and share it with you guys.

I can really see hundreds of non deftones related people getting more and more insterested over time waiting for the next update.

Yeah, I don't think this is even conceptual, unfortunately. As much as we'd all love the world to give two shits about Chi, it's just not realistic.

see here is the thing you.. and alot of others don't get.. this isn't about the deftones at all. this is about chi.. who is.. first, before rock star, a human being. believe it or not there just happens to be alot of people out in the world today who still have compassion for others... these are the people that want to reach and spread the word to. most of you think people aren't going to give a crap about chi because they are not deftones fans.. and i have to say.. you just don't get it. this is more than just about music and what band you love or hate.

i appreciate those of you who are trying to think up ideas.. and yes.. i am not so naive to think i can just throw up a video and know it will be viral... but it is worth a try to see what we can come up with.

but - i want it to be about chi and what he is going thru.. not about his prior accomplishments as a deftones member.

i actually like the idea mikau had... i had been thinking of something similar where people who have met chi before could tell their story. i have received hundreds of emails from people who have some great stories to tell.

Please don't be discouraged Gina, we all love what you are doing for Chi, I for one think your angelic.  It would be way difficult for me to invest as much time and energy as you have to help out Chi and for that a tip of the ol' hat to you.

I do however agree with vesanique, not many people would care, I mean, I personally had no interest in coma's nor did I ever imagine I would learn as much about them if it wasn't for Chi's unfortunate accident.

I am with you 100% and would still be up for anything to help out our warrior in anyway I could except lately I am quite limited to what I can do.

Wrong, I do. It's just that I haven't enough faith in the human being to believe that lots of people care about a random bassist in the coma.

Good thing if they actually do, but I'm not optimistic at all.

Chi's a poet right? Could do some videos based around that.

It caters for a lot of things... could be a selection of images, art or literally just someone reading out poems. Basically a mammoth spoken word effort based around a subject, coma or maybe even chi.

Just an idea. I know everyone has their own busy lives to lead and maybe some people have their own family battles they're fighting so it's probably not a realistic thing to some.

What I got from Gina's post was not to accomplish big things in the short term but to get a ball rolling or something.
