They talk about El-P but 60 euros for a year. 6€ /month. 🤣

Nice! The Google language translate is wonky but here's some interesting bits I've parsed:

- Chino felt he was in a "mental labyrinth" when they first started working on the album four years ago that he isn't in anymore. So some lyrics on the album sound like "suffering" while others sound more positive. Labyrinths and mazes and escaping them is a recurring theme on the title track, Big Youth, Last Rites and Natural Selection.

- Pleasure has a "menacing bass" and a "cyberpunk" sound. Fuck. Yes.

- Last Rites has a "booming guitar riff" and "heavy drums" as well as "dream pop" elements. Potentially the most Deftones-esque song?

- Runner has a hissing error in its "opening synth sequence" that they kept in the song lol.

- The El-P collabo seems to have happened because Chino wasn't satisfied with his own performance on the Handsome Boy Modeling School song and felt a collab between them should be better. He's in contact with El and sent him Big Youth. El loved it, rewrote his own part several times and also helped mix the song. It also has an airhorn that has been used in Jamaican dancehall.

- It seems Chuck left because he wanted to take Crosses in a more "traditional direction" (more rockish?) while Chino and Shaun likely wanted to take the band in this more electronic/experimental direction.

- Chino "sings like he never has before" on Pulseplagg...to the point you might not realize its him? Reminds me of some people being confused if Chino was singing on The Beginning of the End cover lol.

- I get the feeling Robert Smith's part on Girls Float Boys Cry will be very subtle.

Where we seeing another song teased?

Inexhale

My fam was talking about being the next single, then I read about it here

GlimmeringMaggit

There were a couple of places listing a 6th October release for Big Youth, which doesn't seem to have come true.

Unless it's on VK again and I haven't seen it.

Thinking there will be a Big Youth video the night the album drops.

Bit surprised at the lack of press this week, I thought there would be a lot more. But we're almost there. Home stretch.

I don't see that 4sure.
Besides the lack of press, I also don't see them making a music video for 'Ghost Ride.' They have already made 2 videos; they won't make another 1 for 'big youth' and another one for 'ghost ride'

Inexhale

Even if they release a 3rd music video, the hype isn't the same now with this lack of press; it's almost time

surgery

Certainly, they may even release one more music video, depending on the budget. They are currently signed with Warner Records, it's important not to forget this detail, of course.

GlimmeringMaggit

Didn't the Holier video drop on the day of the EP release? I expect another video because of the running theme with the girl. Just two videos for the album wouldn't feel quite right when they did three for the EP.

Expect reviews to start dropping tomorrow. I don't think reviews establish much or go far in creating a narrative around an album these days, but when you're impatient it's sometimes all you have.

Yes, it was on the same date. It's almost guaranteed that there will be another music video. I think everyone agrees with that. The doubt that existed was whether it was for 'Ghost Ride,' 'Big Youth,' or another song.

GlimmeringMaggit

By the way, Ghost Ride has clawed its way into me. Those beats after the last chorus are wild good.

Wild 1, I moved on from the song some time ago, although it seems like the song got a bit overshadowed because 2 songs were released at the same time, and yes, the last part is gud

It's good to know how they came up with the album's name, good interview

surgery

Yeah, Big youth 'The whole song was loosely based around a Beastie Boys vibe'
