I don't know how this turned into a Coheed and Cambria thread but most people herald the first and second albums as the best. Those are The Second Stage Turbine Blade and In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3. I also feel that the third album (get ready for this) Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV: From Fear Through The Eyes of Madness is very good despite some covert pop tendencies. The last 4 songs on that album more than make up for it.

No World For Tomorrow blew except for three songs.

Their most recent albums are the most tech/prog/metal, earlier stuff is more punk/emo/rock.

Chances are if you like one album you'll like them all though.

Sorry for adding more Off topic, but i find coheed and silversun to be mars volta and smashing pumpkins lite respectively.

Rocket Skates '94

Mars Volta > Coheed ANYDAY. Omar Rodriquez's shit is better than Coheed IMO

There's not doubt that Coheed is a talented group of musicians, Im not knocking them at all.  And I usually don't have a problem with singers that have high voices.   I dig Circa Survive, Silversun Pickups, and Passion pit.  Coheed just doesn't do it for me, but I hear they put on a great show?

coheed and mars volta are way too different to compare. i personally love both bands but honestly i used to absolutely hate coheed. after i kinda got over my prejudices and actually listened to the band they're an amazing group of musicians who continue to make great music. everyone has their preferences, i'll listen to what i listen to because it sounds good to me. i'm not asking anyone to change their mind about them but i'm awfully glad i did. one thing though. welcome home is WAY over rated. i'd take one of the willing wells or in keeping secrets over it any day.

but back to deftones. i needs me some rocket skates!!
