i think it's kind of crap for these pictures to be posted on the internet. he's in a position of weakness and i don't believe these pictures serve any real purpose. if chi was completely cool with these pictures being taken and distributed online then hey, i would be okay with it because he's okay with it, but that photo makes me both depressed and mad.

I think his family decided to post these to show his strength, not his weakness. The man has been in a coma for over a year now and he continues to fight and progress, he's a hero in that regard. If you focus on the strength it took him to be able to grip that railing, and the strength it must take his family and friends to sit by his side and smile the way they are for over a year now, those pictures might not anger you as much. Either way, it was his families decision, and it is done, so you might as well try to look at it positively.

did his family get his permission to post these photos? that's what i'm saying. they could have waited till he was a bit better because these photos don't show his strength at all. it's progress, but look at him. he's still weak because like you said, he's been in a coma for over a year. they could have issued a statement saying that he's now able to grip his bed railing and that would have been enough. chi proved his strength by surviving the accident and having the will to hold on. that in itself is what makes him a hero. i accept that it was his family's decision, but i don't have to agree with it nor like it.

It's fine. I know you don't have to agree or like it but what does it matter? It's all support for Chi. Dispite the reality in the photo, it's great to see the main thing that's happened in it - the bedrail grabbing (as in - a bit of progress).

I think he looks great, definitely better than what I had visualized he would look like at this point.
Speculating on whether he would want these photos posted is pointless...these are coming directly from his family.  The people that fight with him and bath him and take care of him.  They obviously are encouraged by his progress, and they have every right to share their joy.

It's silly to whine about it being "old news" just cuz it's from the other site...this is a deftones forum and not everyone goes to oneloveforchi daily, so this is incredibly relevant.  It's no different than Vesanic cut n pasting everything that is posted on twitter.

To get this even clearer, no, I'm not jealous. I just find it fucking ridiculous. Not only this has been posted like one week ago, but also he posts it like he is the one who wrote it. And while it's pretty good to see that my threads get some interest, I wouldn't mind seeing my threads getting no answers at all.
