yea thats an old one but damn chino says that they're using a completely diff producer this time.  cant believe none of us picked up on that.  ive probably watched this vid like 3 times before.  judging from this interview it sounds like they're really happy with the way it turned out.  i bet its gonna be amazing.  im fucking pumped.

i gotta say im more interested in eros and how it sound.. chi's work is on there, produced by terry -who always bring the a-game to the studio, and the eros clips where cool with the heavy 8-string an' all. and the fact that they spend a long time on it. long time can be a bad factor too - as in snw, but writing this new stuff in it in 2 months doesnt sound like quality. hope im wrong.

and i dont like that chino now talks negative on dark aproach.. like "i made those records" .. what are u gonna be, this happy papa roach rock band or what? and u already made the relative happy snw record, and look how that turned out

They'll have a lot of things to prove. Terry Date is not a simple producer, he's like a real Deftone. I mean, those albums we all love would have been far from being that good if Terry Date had not been in the place. Plus, Saturday Night Wrist, which was not produced by him, is the album that sounds the less Deftonish, if you ask me.

i think deftones are losing the grip...i mean, nothing exciting about, since pre-snw.

and after chi´s accident, they are lost.

i do not agree with you, at least no 100%. Maybe speaking about their last songs (aka record), i would agree. Im still disappointed with SNW, despite the version of beware that didnt make the record (sadface). Its probably because after the ST release i was expecting a huge record. I dont know..

Speaking about recent shows, im amazed. Like they are playing really better lately. At least, for me.

i dont think they have anything to proove. snw was as good as anything else they've done, and the like linus demos were made by themselves, great stuff. they arent n'sync, they make the music themselves, terry doesnt write the shit for them, even if he tried they're stubborn and ultimately make what they want. basically i don't think terry is a big deal, the band is

Vesanic

I'm sure SNW would have sounded way better with Terry on the board. But who knows.

maybe,  but Idk... how could have Terry Date improved a song like Mein ?? that's impossible xD

Vesanic

Terry Date would have thrown that shit away.

yeah shitty song. this is what happens when deftones think they must try to do something else and try new stuff, insted of doing what they can best

My personal opinion I think It's good they work with another producer...just because Bob Ezrin and Shaun Lopez suck doesn't mean all other producers do. I would like to see them work with Matt Bayles. about the producer they have for this record I don't know much about his work. but that doesn't mean anything, it can still turn up to be a great record!everyone was praising Bob Ezrin at the time and that didn't make SNW any better, they should have went with Dan the Automator for that one. I just think that if all the guys get along with the producer they've chosen the new album will turn out amazing.

idk I wouldn't really call snw a happy record.  its not as dark as s/t but look at the lyrics to rocket skates.  They're not dark but their also not pussy shit.  I think it will still have that semi dark feel to it.  Also in that interview chino says a lot of it is fantasy shit.  That should be sick....hopefully some more stuff like Digital Bath maybe

Shadow46/2

Yeah, I think the fantastical lyrics are their best stuff. The most affecting definitely.

Maybe it's just me, but I thought a few of the bob ezrin demos would have made better songs than the some of the songs they put on SNW. I have them on a CD and there were about 3 I thought were amazing. The original Combat was great to me as well, if they would have combined the two different tracks somehow, that song would be even better.

I believe almost half of that material could have been made into better songs than most of the ones on SNW... but yes I definitely do agree with you on Combat

(P.S. just out of curiosity which ones (the 3 specifically...) did you think were amazing?)
