Okay so basically I just wanted to share which albums I'm taking with me to my holiday, and it would be interesting to see what albums other people take or would take to their holiday trips as well.

I am very cheap thus I'm still rocking my 512 megabyte MP3 player which takes about 8 albums, hence the name of the thread. I know you all have your players which can take like your whole music library, but maybe it's better to limit the list to 8 albums or so. I have also noticed that it's actually very cool to just have a few albums with you, makes you appreciate them more as you can't switch to another album if you feel like it, as you just have 8 albums with you.

So, my list, the albums which I chose to fit my mood now and hopefully on my holiday as well.

1. Luke Pickett - Blood Money EP
2. Codeseven - The Rescue
3. The Stiletto Formal - Fiesta Fiesta Fiesta Fiesta
4. In Reverent Fear - Stomacher
5. City and Colour - Bring Me Your Love
6. Atlas of ID - Cataclysm EP
7. Dredg - The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion
8. Murder By Death - Like the Exorcist But More Breakdancing

There you have it! Now let's see your lists.

Peace out. I'm back in 2 weeks.

my player holds up to 1 gygabite, therefore my usual choices when going somewhere:

single songs by: Strike Him Centurion, Crystal Antlers, Broken Social Scene,
songs by Sigur Ros
Sigur Ros - Takk
The Appleseed Cast - Low Level Owl (both volumes)
The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute
songs by Tool plus
Tool - Lateralus

but if to talk about 8 albums I would take right now on a two week holiday without a possibility of changing those albums in between the holiday, those would be:
Sigur Ros - Takk
The Appleseed Cast - Low Level Owl
Tool - Lateralus
dredg - El Cielo
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists..
mewithoutYou - Catch for Us the Foxes
Oceansize - Effloresce
Red Sparowes - At the Soundless Dawn

I guess these 8 albums would cover all my usual music needs.

shine down unshy

1. ISIS - wavering radiant
2. deftones - white pony
3. radiohead - ok computer
4. tool - aenima
5. NIN - ghosts I-V
6. Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced?
7. Led Zeppelin - II
8. nirvana - nevermind (one album I can -never- get tired of)

well, I have an iPod that holds 80gb so I don't really have to worry... but if I had to choose, this is what I'd bring this summer:

Arcade fire - neon bible;
Arcade fire - funeral;
radiohead - amnesiac;
placebo - BFS;
metallica - death magnetic;
NIN - the fragile;
down - II;
KOL - because of the times.

black coffee

So many nice albums mentioned here : Cave In - Antenna, mewithoutYou - Catch for Us the Foxes, Knut - Terraformer, all the dredg and Radiohead albums and so on.

So let me try this..

Dredg - The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion
this one was easy....

Radiohead - Kid A
at least one album by this fabulous band is a must.

Open Hand - You And Me
On last.fm they recognize similarities with the likes of Far and Codeseven. I'm not too sure about that, but Open Hand is awesome. From start to finish an album I wouldn't wanna miss in my holidays.

Callisto - Providence
from the so-called post-metal genre I prefer this one over Wavering Radiant by ISIS.

Now It's Overhead - Fall Back Open
This one brings back amazing memories.

Amplifier - Amplifier
Speaking of amazing memories...

Karnivool - Sound Awake
It's good to have some classics, but also something new in the bag.

Maserati - Inventions For The New Season
the sound of this album feels like a holiday.

Deftones-88-05-Deftones

I - Nine Inch Nails - The Fragile ( How The Fuck Am I Not Going To Take This One? )
II - Nine Inch Nails - Ghosts I-IV
III - The Cure - Seventeen Seconds
IV - Depeche Mode - Violator On 5.1
V - Megadeth - That One Night
VI - Metallica - Ride The Lightning
VII - Machine Head - The Blackening
VIII - Deftones - White Pony (Red or Black Edition)
" You are just Disconnected, Apathetic It must be so pathetic to be this frantic You are just Like methadone for an addict  "   Mark Hunter

" Im gonna see you bleeding Face down in the dirt Im gonna give you back what Youve taken with hurt You coward Im going to spit right in your face" Rob Flynn

Jizzlobber

2. Isis - Wavering Radiant
3. Karnivool - Sound Awake
4. Pelican - Ephemeral EP
5. Incubus - Make Yourself

7. Minus the Bear - Highly Refined Pirates
8. Faith No More - Angel Dust

It definitely needs to grow on me. Very different from Themata. It really surprised me how long most of the songs are. But so far I'm really digging it.
