i think the most depressing part of that interview was the fact that slopez is helping to produce the album, man did he fuck up SNW. I really have a hard time belieiving they would not release the album and write and record all new material. Until i hear it from the band themselves, i call bullshit (though a double chi/sergio  album would be kick ass).

Chino's voice was pretty terrible though. That was mostly what Lopez worked on. See Rapture, Beware, Cherry Waves, and then compare it to any song off of S/T. His vocal parts are awful.

um, no. in certain cases (bands like Metallica or artists like Madonna) yes, but for the most part and especially a band like Deftones, no.

merchandise and live performances are what earns the band money.

record sales are mostly important to the record label, even though they try to make it out to be more important to the artists. and guess why? because the record labels want you to buy albums so they can make money.

You would actually be suprised to know what a record company gets and what they have to pay out like staff, rent, bills and money from the sales have to be recouped for marketing costs (approx 22% of the advance has to be recouped for marketing costs) The distributer has to take a cut and to be honest most of the money goes to the retailer for album sales, then theres the various royalty payments.

I spoke to Warner a couple of weeks ago and I was told that everything is now on hold and not to expect anything this year.

Dispite all this, at least Deftones are touring and will showcase some of the new material.
