Loving this proof of progress, though I can't help but to be reminded of how "dinjy" and laid back and "rusty" and O.G. it was like when they worked with Terry (look at Eros' surroundings and everything else besides SNW n DE) This just looks and seems too clean  ;D and professional with their surroundings now and even the seriousness on their faces. It's a funny observation I know, and I really hope it don't mean shit this time around! :o They just seem too professional and business-like in comparison and even "spoiled"? It's just me though, beat me up for it and I hope it's a wrong hunch. Looking too far into it I hope but that's how concentrated I am on what we've gotten thus far, lol ;D A dose of audio could shut me up!

I feel completely different. I feel that "professional' is a good thing and they are more focused than ever. They are working with Nick Raskulinecz who is one of the most sought after producers in the game right now. We should be happy that Deftones are the caliber of band that can pull producer like him. I think the environment they are working in is only going to produce great results.

Agree to disagree. Reminds me of DE and I'm not crazy about it. I respect Nick but not with Deftones over Terry. And it's not rap, it doesn't work that way in the "game" with Deftones as we've seen before. Like I said, I have a not so good feeling based on the environment I only see in pics and that doesn't necessarily mean shit. I said I hope it doesn't. Nick wasn't great for Deftones last time around IMO and a lot of fans who grew to love Terry in there. We have to settle I guess. They can be focused with Terry too though, Nick wasn't the reason completely that they've gotten their focus. It's growing up and hardships, etc.

I know its not rap dude, game is metaphor for the music scene. Of course everyone grew to love Terry in there, he produced the first 4 albums as well as Eros. I loved what he did with the band; I fell in love with them because of the albums he produced as did everyone else.

All I am saying is, not being excited because its not Terry and they are acting professional instead fucking off 60% of the time just doesn't make sense to me.

Everyone should be excited about whats in store for us......

I think the Terry Date-Deftones relationship is done. Check it out this interview (the last one talking about him) and maybe can change your view about the work of Raskulinecz

You talk about Nick coming and kind of not replacing Terry [Date, previous producer] but Nick is now out there doing his thing. What did you think that Nick would bring to the band that you guys maybe didn't think Terry could bring? Or did you just want to try something new?

Chino: Yeah, it wasn't so much that, umm, see we've never done pre-production with a producer. Like even with Terry, he would come in, I think he'd hear like a couple things but he never, he wasn't with us the whole like the whole time. I think, he'd come in like I think, like two weeks like before we'd probably were goin' into the studio to record to hear the songs whatever. But this was a completely different experience having Nick in there with us while we were writing stuff.

A true master of the language.

TheShade1989

I dont think they're necessarily more professional, but I do think they look it because the serious vibe is down to the fact that they're ready to make music. They said they had a lotta creativity writing DE, maybe it's the same this time round, and they're just excited to get it done quickly but without losing any quality. Plus, they've been smoking weed, drinking and fucking around, if the other pictures are anything to go by. So I wouldnt say theyre focusing entirely on their music to the point of drowning out everything else.

Millennia

i love how people can make a judgement of the recording process from just a few studio picks. Too professional? how can you possible make that call?

rock_n_frost

ok i dont know the reason but im really hyped right now.
i think i have some positive senses about this album..you know..i think like um..you know

Look, I love this band. I feel like what I love most was a big part due to Terry. The way he captured them that is. I only realized that after SNW and DE. I love SNW but it's different, DE i like but way different. I can  live with it, k? I have to, lol. I just wish things were the way they were and that's just a wish and my opinion. What I said wasn't up fur arguing bc it's what u think and what I think like the pics. I'm not judging anything from them, I simply said I don't know guys-got a feeling..... Foooooooooooooock!! ;)  This record will be great I know! I think it could be greater with Terry AND the 60% fucking off. It's not going to happen i know that. Those records most of us love the most were 60% "fucked off" on so how is it better now? DE wasn't. It was not,  ;)Again, did I say I wasn't excited? Dig a little...

I think new album will me something like DE: half Deftones, half radio friendly music (like Beauty School, Sextape).
