It seems like I can't find the info using the search-function, I really tried! :D

So, I've got a few questions for you guys I'd really love to get answered:

Is it true that (Like) Linus really is something like a fan-made collection of demos?
If yes: which releases were these demos taken from?
+ Are there any reliable and neutral sources about that stuff?

Were Deftones formed as "The Deftones" and changed their name after they released the '92s demo including "Linus", "Christmas" and "Guest"?

And would you guys like the acoustic version of Cherry Waves (FLAC) in exchange for your answers? ;D

Why are "Like (Linus) /B" and "Some People" the same songs?

(Like) Linus is a collection of their old demos and released as a fan made album called "Like Linus"
If you own the demos ull know that 2 versions of the song Linus were recorded..one is called Linus and the other is called Like Linus/B.
Linus is a person who recorded a few of their demos and he is the guitar technician of the band 2day!
Like linus/b and some people are not the same by the way.
as for "the deftones" im pretty sure they were just called deftones.

Was it ever physically "released" or something? I really wonder how it made it through all the years (if it's really from 1993) and got the name of an official deftones record.

And about the "The Deftones"-stuff: the first two demo tapes (as of deftonesworld.com discography) read "The Deftones" on them what never appeared again afterwards.

How did fans get their hands on all the demos anyway if there were only like 3-4 demo tapes with a few songs released at that time?
And how did Deftones get to have such a fanbase so early anyway?

Well like linus is not an official release, it was released online, fans made the covers and the tracklist. Demos are from 1990 onwards and when the band was recordin stuff, they sold it to ppl to listen to as well as record labels to get signed. and there are about 3-4 demos even available for download on this website. Search for them. As for the fanbase, they're really goood! haha well they got lucky. Don't worry about "The deftones" too much, its also saying like "the goo goo dolls" or whatever.

Cause they were rocking like mad, and gained a huge fanbase that way...
And I think they distributed demo tapes during these shows, and that's where all these songs come from...

If ignorance is bliss, then knock the smile off my face.

it's called "unreliable sources" and obviously i'm trying to get rid of "stupid" facts, thanks for your participation.

I wish some of these songs are re-written and re-recorded. I think it would be great when deftones want to end their career or just for the hell of it

I don't even understand why everybody calls it (like)linus. It's just a collection of demo's and rarities. (like) linus is a song. It's as weird as calling a demo collection 'my own summer (shove it). I still don't understand it....

Deftones didn't have a 'huge' fanbase back then. Adrenaline sold pretty good but not like crazy when it came out. So it build through the years and after White Pony came out the really build a huge fanbase.

Those demo tapes where made to try to get a record deal.
