An idea for Chi

Ok folks, we have seen the effort that the various bands put in to raise money for Chi's family.

I was thinking that we could do something as a community if practical. My initial thoughts were that we could design a t shirt, something simple, sell them to users who are interested and somehow get the profits to Chi's family.

Has anyone done anything like this before, how easy would it be, should we even be doing something like this?

Would anyone be interested in actually participating in this? For real I mean? And would anyone be willing to run the thing?

At this stage, I want to bounce some ideas around.

Out of sheer boredom, I designed a t shirt in 30 seconds.

Martin

Very cool idea.
I know there's some artist's amongst the boardmembers (that have even done shirts before...*hintterdyhinthint*) that might be into doing such a thing. Maybe it can be sold through Deftonesworld? Like, order before a date, and take that to a company that prints on shirts...

Deadradio

I like the idea. I would order one.

exactly. We don't need to be pulling up trees here and raising wads of cash. Ultimately whatever we would theoretically be able to raise would go to Chi's family who could then spend on medical bills or give to a charity close to Chi's heart.

The one issue with selling through deftonesworld is that we would have to make sure that Nuno isn't troubled as that would not be fair on him.

i'm sure you'd end up at a loss.

not to be pessimistic but if you go buy a lot of shirts, shipping, printing, and they don't sell? i just don't see who would be willing to put up the cash to get it off the ground.

with all that said, i would definitely buy one to support the cause.

Vesanic

Pretty cool idea.

I'd buy one for sure.

hypothetically, if you priced each shirt at between $10 and $15 plus postage, and only order once you've got definate numbers?

By the way, the t shirt idea is just one of several ways we could help. If anyone can think of a better one, please say so

goldpony

i think stickers are a better idea, like a pack of 4 or something for like $2-3. no wristbands please :P

aj

very little mark-up in a pack of stickers. you go to the effort of selling to 50 people and you make $50

goldpony

true, but more people would buy stickers and theyre cheap to produce. maybe, to go on a different track, do ipod and phone skins as well. im for whatever tho, id support it

Indeed. Just pick a date, have everyone who wants to sign up and pay before that date and then go to such a company.
I've done something like that for my studenthousing last year. The price is defined a) how intricate the design is and b) by how many people you can divide the total amount. They only have to make one mold so to speak, and dividing that through more people is cheaper.
What we did last year was a hoodie, for about 12 people, and it turned out to cost € 26,- or so. That's not a lot of money at all.

If the design for a tshirt is a simple one (couple of words, outline of Chi or so), I'm sure plenty of people would want one and the price would be very, very affordable. Raise the price a little and paypal that to someone close to Chi.
How does this sound? Just thinking along.

Ow and speaking of other ideas, I had this idea a couple of days ago: their doing these One Love For Chi shows right? How about people from the board organising One Live For Chi Houseparties? Just get togethers, listening to Deftones, watching videos, having a drink, catching up, telling stories about the times we'd seen them or what not, jamming out some tunes maybe. People could donate something that could be paypalled to someone close to Chi.
What do you think?
