This stuff is really impactful. We all have to keep donating and helping in every way we can so Chi can get out of that bed. Keep fighting brother, we love you!

After reading the part of the article I've posted below, I wanted to ask, is there anyone that reads all the love and support letters for Chi to him every day??? I read (http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2010/feb/03/vegetative-state-patient-communication) last week that 1 in 5 people in MCS (minimally conscious state) have full awareness of what is going on, they just can't move or react. This makes me think it would be great, if someone is not already doing so, that they read any letter of support to him. (I'm sorry if this has already been addressed).

QuoteI know you want your fans and the world to keep Chi in their thoughts. What do you want them to know about his current state of health?

At this point he's making very, very slow progress. He's got a great team of people working with him. It's a really tough situation. I mean at this point we're trying to keep people aware of it. People are always asking, and people are curious, they want to know what's up, so we're just trying to keep it out there, cause it's been over a year, almost creeping up on two years, which is a long time, especially in this day and age when people's attention spans are pretty short. Just that he's still there and he's fighting. He's got a ton of love and support from around the world, but he needs it to keep on coming. We're just hanging in there for our brother. It's pretty wild that it's been this long.

Does anyone know what his treatment now consists of?

About a year I read an article about a firefighter from New Jersey who was in a coma for about 4 year and they did an experimental treatment of giving him ADHD medication, most likely dexedrine. It woke him up and apparently all of his cognitive functions were restored.

I suffer from Inattentive ADHD and thanks to dexedrine and ritalin I've really woken up and become more conscious in my day to day life, whereas I used to feel only half-awake all of the time. Despite the controversy that such medications have as being overprescribed amongst the youth, they are miracle drugs for some and I can't help but imagine they would have a positive effect on a semi-conscious person whether they wake them up completely or have a positive effect on their mood and cognitive functions.

do you think he'll ever be able to play again?

I'm hopeful. Its depends on how he comes out of this semi-concious state. If he doesnt have any brain or nerve damage i think he could do it. Its gonna take a lot of work though but im pulling for him.

HUCKmag

HUCK has re-listed a one-off signed Deftones illustration for auction on eBay in aid of One Love for Chi. It's a special A3 print of Paul Willoughby's illustration that appeared in HUCK#021, signed by the band themselves. It's totally awesome and bidding continues for a few more days, with all money going to help his medical costs.

Please spread the word to other Deftones fans...One love for Chi!
