As little as it seems, it generates interest. Look at the increased traffic to the site! So, indirectly, it might lead to added donations by people who would otherwise not know about the site.  And he might possibly donate signed stuff to distribute further, as mentioned elsewhere. He didn't really have to do any of that - and it's more than others have done.
One simple sentence on Twitter might lead to added funds, and we're seeing the effects of Chi's fund in action with his new chamber arriving today

I know this is semi-unrelated, but the day I started lurking here for guitar tabs, one of Marines was sent to the hospital  If anyone could please pray for the family of Lance Corporal Pham of Saigon, Vietnam.  He had an aneurism after surgery and slipped into a coma and was pronounced brain dead at 1743 today, I and others would be very appreciative.
