Updates: I added a newsletter to the www.oneloveforchi.com website to have a way to get news out quickly on Chi's progress. Also, there are new blogs posted on the family blog.. great news on there!!! Check it out: http://oneloveforchi.blogspot.com/. Chi is making great progress. I know he is going to love hearing the CD of fan's messages I am sending him today if he reacted that way to hearing me on the phone. I am considering this CD Vol. 1 so if you still want to record a message to Chi it can be on Vol. 2.

Hey Gina~It's great that so much is happening now and way overdue!  I love it!!

For months you couldn't find anything on Chi and there was nothing the Deftones site or on myspace. I couldn't understand why there wasn't something somewhere.

No matter now....it's awesome that so many people care and I look forward to upcoming events.

I've just checked the oneloveforchi blog and read Meng's new post. I'm quite puzzled by one of his phrase as english isn't my mother tongue... "He has come along way, but he's still healing. He still has a chunk of his skull sitting in a freezer that needs to be put back."
Sorry if I sound like a total idiot but is it supposed to be taken literally or is it just a way to say that he hasn't regain full consciousness yet, which we all know of course.

you have to know Ming.. he has a certain way of getting things across.. chi had surgery in which they had to remove a small section of his skull/bone - this is what he is referring to. the bone has not been put back yet.

the great thing is that there HAS been improvements.. and i just have this feeling.. call me hopeful.. but i have a feeling this CD i sent him today: http://www.slide.com/r/Gn7vnW672T8_hsGRljyGcFNLM0uP_ZLl?cy=un with all the get well msgs from all of his fans all around the world is going to help him out alot. chi is really down to earth and connected to his fans... he loves people... he truly cares... so i know he is going to love hearing this. he will have it tomorrow because i overnighted it to him. i will let everyone know when i find out how it went... i am sure chi's brother ming will blog us about it too on the www.oneloveforchi.com website.

For the first time ever, THE BAMBOOZLE LEFT will be auctioning off one of the festival's most coveted spots: an appearance on the Main Stage.

All proceeds from the auction will be donated to the One Love for Chi foundation to aid in the ongoing medical care of Deftones bass player, Chi Cheng. The winning band will be awarded a 25 minute time slot on the Bamboozle Left Main Stage, Sunday April 5th from 2:00 PM - 2:25PM at the Festival Grounds at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. thanks... everything will work out.. i have faith. it may take awhile... alot of effort and hard work.. but chi can do it and he deserves all of our help/efforts. i'm in for the long haul.. no matter what it takes or how long it takes.. and i let him know this.. i know he will keep fighting on.

thanks for all that have made a recording.. chi will get vol.1 today.. for those of you who have or are planning to do a recording for vol.2 thanks in advance.

yepp.. but youre not a rockstar so noone will ever pay for you. that also means you and i are less worthy as people on the same planet

It's not only that Chi is a rockstar though...!
The way he lives his life, or did up untill his accident, is an example people can follow.
He doesn't just use his stardom to chase fame. He uses his talent to benefit others, as in for example his involvement in Youthnoise, all his work with homeless people, his work against domestic violence, and his involvement against animal cruelty through PETA.... And so on.
This inspires people, or inspires me at least.
Also inspiring is how grounded he seems, and appreciative of Deftones' fans.
Apart from his amazing talent, all of these factors are what inspires people to give, I think.
And even if we're not famous, we can all do little things for others and inspire others. Then maybe good things will come back to us as well. You can go ahead and call me naive (or worse) obviously
