we are all waiting for you. i know, that in this time, all the deftones community are together and praying for you. we all miss you, in the stage, in the album, in life. every day i wake up, and think about you, and i hope that today will be the day that you wake up, just to make our life a little more complete. Dear Chi,

When I heard you where hurt, I instantly broke down in tears. I am thinking about you always and I hope you feel better soon. You and your music are a big inspration in my life. When everything just sucks and nothing seems to be working out in my life, I just turn to your music and it makes me just want to keep on going. I want to thank you for that from the bottom of my heart. Chi your one awesome guy and one hell of a bass player. Even though we have never met, I LOVE YOU MAN! Hey everyone, As of today chi is holding strong. He we be so happy to know the good things you are doing out of respect for him in his downtime. For day three, Please, if your gonna party find a designated driver beforehand and of coarse stay buckled. Chi's mother (Jeanne) asked if I would post these words from her as well. -Chino.

"When asking Chi's head neuro surgeon what kind of thank you gift we could get for he and his team of doctors he responded that some of the surgeons love the Deftones and he would like them to have tickets for when chi's back onstage. He expects a tough recovery but in the end expects Chi will be playing his bass again. Praise Jah. For himself the doc has a special request for all of you. He will give you more details soon. It is 1:00 am now and I am with Chi. I've been reading your emails to him. You are so wonderful. My heart aches with love for you. We are all connected." - Jeanne (chis mom).

You once said you started playing bass because your brother made you play Iron Maiden songs with him. In all those years, you and the rest of the tones have been that big brother for a lot of people (including me). You have been an inspiration to so many.

Dear Chi,

When I first heard about the accident I was, as well as every other Cheng and Deftones fan I've spoken to, shocked and afraid.
Shocked by the fact that you had been in a terrible accident, and afraid that I would might lose an essential part of the group who makes the most important thing in my life - music. My favourite music.

I have never met you in real life, but one of my biggest dreams is to meet you and your friends in Deftones in person, to tell you face-to-face how much you and your music means to me. If you receive this letter and read it, then maybe it can be a start.
Who knows?

I've tried to find comfort in the fact that when my dad was 19 he fell from a couple of floors and had a pretty bad landing. He was in a coma for about a week, but woke up just fine except a very bad head ache. I've been hoping the same for you, and I still will.
I have plenty other things to write to you, but I'll stop here.
Maybe I'll get the chance to tell you everything someday.

Come on, Chi. I know you will get through this.

I can still remember the first time I saw Deftones on the telly about 6 years ago as good as the first time Hexagram gave me goosebumps [which it does every time], the first time I saw you live in 2006 when you gave me the horns and how I felt like such a little girl at how excited I was that you dedicated No Ordinary Love to all the ladies in the crowd that night. It's strange how such little things like that can make you feel and it also seems crazy to some how hearing that the bassist from your favourite band is in a coma even if you don't even know them, let alone never met them before.

I ended up in an ambulance on friday night after running down a hill with my friend and tripping, hitting my head real hard on a lamp post and somehow cutting all my stomach and bruising my ribs pretty bad. I don't remember much from that night and I'm sure the copious amounts of alcohol didn't help either, but I somehow remember Be Quiet And Drive coming on at the club we were at that night and feeling like the happiest person alive. I have you and the rest of the Deftones to thank for that and I can't wait to do so in person next time you're touring over here, even if it's 5 years down the line because I know you're gonna be okay, Chi. And I can't wait :]

And when you fully healed, when you playing your awesome music again, you will know, this accident just makes you more stronger! I know, you will be much better soon and a lot of people will be glad, what gives you more enegry. In 2000 I heard something what never before ... The White Pony. You are the ONE from the great guys, who makes that masterwork. In a moment a feeled a lot of thing, what never comes out from me by the other musicians. So, I'm praying for a big musician ...
